PC runs at North Canyon vs Region & 2A rivals

Cougar track, fresh off of an early schedule that included the finest in 5A, 4A and 3A track & field competition, takes on Scottsdale Christian, Northwest Christian, Bourgade Catholic and Willow Creek in a mathchup at North Canyon High School. The Cougars also unveil a few surprises. Megan Van Hofwagen in the 200, Sam Ledford in the low hurdles, CY Speck throws and Matt Kredit the 200. And that's just the beginning.
@ Scottsdale Arcadia High School Titan Relays 6 March, 2004 Up against the 5A's again, Phoenix Christian's track team placed 5th in a field of 16 at Scottsdale Arcadia's prestigious Titan Relay's. The sprint medley team of Sam Ledford, Geoff Burns, Matt Kredit and Nate Huss burned the field with a 1:39.6, narrowly beating Mesa Dobson. The Long jump squad of Ledford, Kredit and basball player Eric Perez placed secon totaling 58 feet. Mesa Mountain View won with a total of 60'4". The Cougars snatched two 3rd places also. One in another showdown against Mountain View in the distance medley. The team of Jack Vermeer (800), Brant Frazee (1200), Nate Huss (400) and Paul Bell was clocked at 11:21. In the other silver, the boy's 400 meter relay of Ledford, Burns, Danny Lazerri and Huss qualified for state with a time of 44.63 finishing second in their heat to Mesa Dobson. In other relays, the boy's 4x200 relay was 4th, the shuttle hurdle relay 5th, the girls distance medley 6th, the boy's mile medley 7th? and the girls high jump team (CY SPeck) 8th. The boy's team was 5th in a field of Mesa Schools (Mountain View, Dobson, Mesquite), Arcadia, Flagstaff Coconino, Camelback and Maryvale. Not bad. Our next varsity track meet will be on March 27th as we host the Phoenix Christian Invitational at Phoenix College. Parents should contact Mr or Mrs Stahl for volunteer information. Junior varsity competes on Thursday the 11th at Phoenix Christian. We need help there also. Contact Coach Mo for details.imageimage
The Cougar track team continues to grow and get better. The first week of the season began with tune ups agaist 5A powers Camelback, Yuma Kofa, Mountain View, Maryvale and Mesa Dobson. In between, a visit to Queen Creek tests the teams depth and saavy. In all, neary 70 athletes compete in three days of competition. Our next track meet is scheduled for 27 March, the Phoenix Christian Invitational......join us!image
Phoenix Christian's track team got busy this week with meets against 5A powers Mountain View, Dobson, Sinagua, Maryvale & Camelback on Wednesday & Saturday and a meeting with 3A/2A competition at Queen Creek on Friday. Click on the photo for details.

Cougars Flex at Queen Creek

@ Queen Creek High School Queen Creek Invitational March 5th Matt Kredit qualified for the finals in the long jump with a leap of 18'11" and then sped to a 24.4 in the 200 as the Cougars tune up for Arcadia by competiing at Queen Creek. Josh Schlueter makes a statement in the hurdles with a time of 45.2, it was his second attempt in the event. Sam Ledford came close to outside qualifying by jumping 40'3" in the triple.
