Please join us for our Awards Banquet this Wednesday, November 30 from 6-8:30 pm in the MHS Cafeteria. The banquet is being catered by Dianna Condon Cuisine and the menu looks fabulous. Don’t miss this fun, social event. Tickets are $10/person and can be paid at the door or on the webstore under XC donations (please note “banquet tickets” in the comment section). Doors open at 5:45 pm and the banquet will start promptly at 6 pm. Attire is dressy.

Varsity boys place 9th out of 24 teams at State!
Our Varsity boys were the last race of the day at the State meet in Fresno on Saturday, November 26th. It was an exciting race, with 208 Division III runners in the 1:25pm race. Check out the link below and the recap of the results from the race.

Varsity boys make it to State! 3 Varsity girls break 20 minutes!
With no rain and superb conditions for racing, the Matadors came away with a State qualification in the Varsity boys race (3rd place overall) and 3 of our Varsity girls breaking 20 minutes on the challenging 3-mile course at Hayward High School—Ariel Thomas, Jr, at 19:30; Sierra Ryder, So., at 19:43 and Andrea Tamminga, So., at 19:56.

Frosh-Soph Girls are #1 are DFAL championships!
We just missed the rain on Saturday, November 5th, as we closed the season with 6 races (Frosh/Soph and JV ran 2-mile races, with Varsity ran 3-miles) and an award ceremony. Team scoring is based on the top 5 finishers per school. Varsity will continue to train for the next two weeks as they prepare for NCS (North Coast Section) on November 19th at Hayward High School, which is the qualifier for the State meet in Fresno on November 26th.
The day of racing started out with the Frosh/Soph girls coming in 1st as a team. Not only that but Georgia Roden, freshman, won the entire Frosh/Soph Girls race with a time of 14:05.1! Coming in third was freshman teammate Sondra Abruzzo with a 14:14.2, then sophomore Lindsay Buckel at 4th place with a 14:20.9, Alexa Clark, freshman, coming in 5th with a 14:23.9 and sophomore Camille Anderson at 17th place with a 14:51.6.
The Frosh/Soph boys came in third as a team, with sophomore Miles McCaulou running a speedy 11:45.7 for 11th placed, followed closely by our top freshman, Brian Haufler, at 11:47.0 for 12th place. Sophomores Jeff Lee (18th at 12:04.4), Nick Laney (26th at 12:21.5) and Zach Barber (28th at 12:25.4) rounded out the top 5 scorers.
The JV girls were 4th as a team, with junior Alyssa Trumble making it just in time for her race after taking the SAT. She had a great race too, coming in 8th with a 14:39.9, with junior teammate Tina Romak at 10th place with a 14:43.5. Senior Emma Trevarthen was 14th with a 15:08.7, with juniors Catrin Farr in 25th at 15:47.4 and Izzie Lee at 28th with a 15:50.7.
Our JV boys were 5th as a team, with our top 10 runner, junior Jimmy McFeely, coming in 9th with an 11:27.1. All of our top 5 scorers are juniors, with Bobby Veres at 12th with a 11:32.8; Nick Choi was 28th at 12:01.8; Asher Jaffe at 31st at 12:08.3 and Drew Dowling, 37th at 12:37.8.
The Varsity girls were also 5th as a team, led by sophomore Sierra Ryder at 20:13.9 for 19th place, with sophomore teammate Andrea Tamminga at 20:19.9 for 20th place. Junior Ariel Thomas was 23rd with a time of 20:29.8, with sophomore Hannah Li at 30th with a time of 21:24.4 and junior Rebekah Ent at 35th with a time of 21:54.7.
The Varsity boys were 2nd as a team, with our top 5 runners all in the top 15. They were Dillon Reed, junior, at 5th place with a 16:00.2; senior Jamie Fehrnstrom 6th place at 16:05.4; senior Adam Roeder at 16:30.1 for 11th place; junior Mark Tamminga at 13th place at 16:35.3 and senior Matt Stewart at 15th place with a time of 16:39.2.
The next big meet will be NCS on November 19th. Go Mats!!!
