IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear Parents,
As we make plans for our spring season, we wanted to inform you of some exciting developments on the horizon. FC Lehigh and Lehigh Valley United have agreed, in principle, to consolidate prior to the Fall 2012 Season. This is a Mutual decision and one that has been incubating for some time. After a year of meetings with LVU, we agree that the time is now to grow both of our organizations.
The future of youth soccer in our country is heading in a direction that will require more clubs and organizations to collaborate, and in most cases consolidate, so that we can improve our current player development model. As it stands now, the model is not working because there are far too many clubs in our country that are diluting the quality of club teams and consequently, the development of players is being thwarted.
In the Lehigh Valley, we have an opportunity to make strides in our own player development because of our demographics, diversity and resources. Developing more players to one day play for our national team would be the ultimate goal, but we certainly need to do a better job of developing more players for the college ranks.
This consolidation will not only improve our teams, it will serve to accelerate our player development. We are very excited about this consolidation and we hope all of you will join us in celebrating the biggest club soccer achievement in the history of the Lehigh Valley.
This isn’t just a good thing; it’s a great thing for youth soccer and our children. Rest assured, our philosophy, mission and vision will remain consistent. We will continue to be committed to player development and achieving national distinction with our teams. Consolidating brings us closer to these goals. More academy players, more travel team players, more coaches and more resources will accelerate player development.
FC Lehigh will schedule meetings this week with every team to address your questions and alleviate any concerns that you might have regarding this new venture.
