B/C Ambis Cup goes to Hillside Inn

Posted by Eric Cyker at Mar 12, 2014 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Hillside Inn rode a 3-0 second period lead to victory in the deciding game of the championship series.  The 3rd period was scoreless as the CRC Bandits were unable to gain enough momentum to chip away at the lead.

It took two overtime periods in the first game of the series before Hillside Inn tallied the winning goal on a rebound. That game ended with a score of 3-2.

Hillside Inn earned a 20-4-2 record to win first place in the regular season.  After losing their first play-off game, they won the next five games to sweep the semi-final and championship series. The CRC Bandits had a strong finish to the regular season, taking third place.  They earned their spot in the championship series with a tough three game series victory in the semi-finals.

Chapter House wins A/B Championship

Posted by Eric Cyker at Mar 5, 2014 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Chapter House wins an exciting 1-0 game 3.  After more than 56 minutes of fast-paced scoreless hockey, Chapter House tallied the game's only goal just seconds into a power-play with under four minutes to play.  With their own power-play for the last minute and ten seconds of the game, and with their goaltender pulled, Lowe's Soft Water was unable to net the tying goal.

Lowe's Soft Water won the first game of the championship series 4-3.  Chapter House tied the series with a 3-0 (EN) win in game 2 to force the deciding game.

Chapter House followed their regular season first place finish (22-2-2) with the play-off championship to win the Ambis Cup trophy.  Lowe's Soft Water had a very strong regular season of their own, finishing in second place with a 15-8-3 record.

Welcome back to the IAHA.

Hope you had a great summer and that you really miss hockey.

Minimum Info:
• Forms and money must be received by Friday, September 27th. Mail them by Monday the 16th and save $30.
• Sign up with USA Hockey. Print and mail the confirmation with your IAHA form.
• Returning Players – send in the Returning Player form on page 7 or the “We want to play together” form on page 9 (not both).
• New Players – send in the New Player form on page 8. Send in the “We want to play together” form on page 9 if it applies.
• When you sign the registration form, you are acknowledging you have read everything in the registration packet, not just the four items above.

For those of you interested, here is more detail.
• Registrations are due in our hands by Friday, September 27. Mailing the forms is strongly preferred. Allow time for it to be delivered before Sept. 27th. If you must drop it off at Cass or The Rink, make sure it is labeled IAHA or Adult Hockey, not IYHA.
• Fees are the same as last year: $420 for skaters ($430 for new players), $210 for A/B goalies. No charge for B/C goalies. Subs are $75.
• You must register separately with USA Hockey at a cost of $43. Print and mail the confirmation with your IAHA form. We need to scan the bar code. Do not email the USAH form to us.
• Save $30. Sign up by Sept 16th and subtract $30 from your fees.
• A/B teams will be based on last year’s rosters. If you want to leave your team, let us know. New players will be assigned to teams by the board. B/C teams will be randomly assigned like last year. • If you want to play with someone, you must use the “We want to play together” form and send everything in one envelope. Two player pairs for A/B, up to three for B/C. A/B players do not need to use this form unless they are leaving their team.
• Players are assigned first-come, first served. If rosters fill up, you may get shut out even if your application was received before the deadline. Last year we were full.
• Please help us find sponsors. Contact Jon Parmenter at jwp35@cornell.edu if you know someone interested in sponsoring.

And finally, here is the long version. Please read the registration forms carefully for complete details.

Registration
Registration forms  must be received no later than Friday, September 27th. Note this is a due date, not a postmark date. Be sure to return the Registration form, the USA Hockey registration confirmation and your payment. Additional copies of the forms can be downloaded here, and will be available at Cass and The Rink. Players wishing to play together (two for A/B, up to three for B/C) must use the “we want to play together” form. By doing this, you can expect to be placed on the same team.

USA Hockey
You must register directly with USA Hockey at http://usahockeyregistration.com. The cost is $43 and must be paid with a credit card. When finished, print the USA Hockey registration confirmation and attach it to your IAHA registration form. We need to scan the bar code. Do not e-mail the confirmation to us.

Teams
For the A/B Division, initial team assignments will be based on last season's rosters. If the number of teams in the division changes from last season, some players may be moved between teams. All new players will be assigned to roster openings to attempt to correct the competitive balance of the teams. If you recruit someone to play and you want to play with him/her, you may do so by registering using the “We want to play together” form. If you do that, you will not be included on your last year’s team’s initial roster and the two of you will be assigned to a team by the Board. Please do recruit though, as we need new players to maintain a healthy league. Players returning to the league after no more than a one season absence will be assigned to their previous team. Players who were subs last season who register to play full time this season will be assigned to the team they subbed for last year. For the B/C Division, all players and the goalies will be assigned to teams in a randomized fashion. We believe it is in the best interest of the league, over the long term, to avoid having the same rosters year after year. This makes it simpler to balance teams and reduces the barriers for new players to enter the league.

Subs
There is a flat fee of $75 to register as a sub. There will be no additional per game fees. Captains must obtain approval from the Board prior to registering a sub. After approval is received, the sub must submit an IAHA registration form, a USA Hockey registration confirmation, and payment of the $75. Approval and all material must be in place before a sub can play. Captains, do not wait until the day of the game to ask for a sub to be approved. Teams are limited to three subs, and subs are not allowed to play in playoff games.

Rule Changes
This is a USA Hockey rule change year. Most of the changes involved clarifications of existing rules or equipment requirements.

Disciplinary Policy The IAHA Disciplinary Policy is included in the registration materials as well as posted below on this Web Site. There are no changes from last season. We continue to discourage fighting and other inappropriate behavior in our adult league. If you are involved in a fight, you should expect to sit a minimum of five games (one game USA Hockey mandatory suspension plus four game IAHA suspension). The message is DON'T FIGHT!! Defending yourself does not require swinging back. Cover up and skate away.

Team/League Sponsorships
Each season we look for local businesses to sponsor teams. The fee for sponsorship this season is $350 minimum and is used to (almost) purchase jerseys. Any amount paid above the minimum is very much appreciated and will be used to reduce player fees the following season. Most businesses can treat this cost as an advertising expense. Sponsorships can be split between two businesses if requested. Team sponsorships are awarded on a first-come first-served basis. As the association receives payment, the sponsorship is assigned. The best way to guarantee renewal or award of a sponsorship is for the business to pay the fee. Please help us to secure sponsors by contacting anyone you know who would be in a position to help. For their support, the business name and logo will appear on the team jerseys, and the name will appear in all posting of the league standings and results. We will also include sponsors' logos and Web links on our Web Site, if requested.

Sign up early..see you on the ice.
