The MI Majors BB All-stars followed up their big win over Eastlake with another strong showing against Fall City, winning 4-0 to advance to the winners bracket semi-finals.  Sam Peterson threw a 2-hitter, needing only 63 pitches for a complete game shutout.  Jacob Stenberg stayed hot with another clutch, 2-run double.  William Mansfield added an RBI single.

Majors BB All-stars Upset Defending Champs in game 1!

William Mansfield and Christopher Lawler combined for 15 strikeouts to shock defending district 9 champion and state runners-up Eastlake 9-4 in game 1 of the 2008 district 9 tournament.  Mansfield hit a 2-out solo home run high over the left center wall in the top of the first inning and then struck out the side in the bottom to put the Islanders up 1-0 after one.  Sam Peterson and Keegan Ogard both hit clutch 2-out RBI singles in the 2nd to take a 3-0 lead.  The powerful Eastlake line-up came alive in the 3rd, taking a 4-3 lead on 3 home runs, first a towering shot over the right field foul pole, then a screaming line drive by the next batter that barely cleared the wall in center, and then another towering 2-run shot to left center field.  The Islanders regained the lead in the top of the 5th after Eastlake intentionally walked Mansfield to load the bases and Jacob Stenberg made them pay for it with a clutch bases clearing double to the wall in right center field.  Lawler cooly shut Eastlake down in the bottom of the 5th and 6th innings to preserve the 9-4 win.

Softball continues to win.  The 9-10 All Star SB team remains undefeated after taking a long, tough 22-21 game from Sammammish.  Another total team effort that featured several big come from behind innings.  No quit in this team!

The team returns to action on Wednesday at 6pm against Kirkland American at Big Finn Hill Park in Juanita.

The 9-10 SB team beat Fall City 11-4 yesterday.  The entire team played well once they got past first inning jitters.  Defensively, the highlight was a Fall City runner trying to advance from third on a solid hit to left field that Sofia Raisys cleanly fielded and gunned a strike to the catcher, Jes Blakeslee, who was blocking the plate for the close out.  That even got the Fall City fans up.  Tonight at 6:00, we play Sammammish, who beat the Bellevue Thunderbird all-stars 12-2.  Just baby steps, but this was the first win in LL SB All Star play in a very long time by 9-10s.

Here is the final tournament roster for the 9-10 Baseball team.  I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and positive attitudes over the course of the past three days of tryouts.  It was not easy to determine the final roster as there were a lot of great kids making a strong case for being on the team.  If anyone would like to discuss my decisions about the roster, please feel free to call me at (206) 295-2937. - Coach Steve
