Coaches

Please remember to upload your game results and pitch counts right after your game.

MAJORS TOURNAMENT RULES:

  • The higher seeded team will be the home team and occupy the 3rd base dugout….Teams will be re-seeded after Pool Play.
  • In pool play tournaments, seeds for the championship round will be determined according to:
    1. Winning percentage
    2. Head to head
    3. Average run differential (max of 10)
    4. Average runs allowed
    5. Regular season record
    6. Coin toss
  • In tournament play, each player is not required to sit out an inning before any player can sit out for a second inning, but each player is still required to play a minimum of 3 innings (9 defensive outs), unless the game is shortened by 10-run rule or called for darkness or weather.
  • Except for Championship games, if a regulation game per LL rule 4.10(c) is called and ends in a tie, the score reverts back to the end of the last complete inning in which the score was not tied (unless the game is called in the bottom half of an inning and the home team is leading, then the home team is the winner and the score does not revert to a prior inning).  If all innings ended with the score tied, and league officials are unable to schedule a continuation, then the team that advances will be the higher seeded team, except in the championship game, which must be continued until one team outscores the other.
    • Extra innings are to be played, as needed, subject to the time limit.
    • Ties will not be recorded for pool play games; a winner will be determined according to these rules (but the score used for calculating average run differential and average runs allowed will be the score at the end of the last full inning).
  • Except for Championship games, if the visiting team is ahead by 10 or more runs after 4 complete innings, or the home team after 3-1/2 innings, the game ends and that team is the winner.

Show Your Stuff Details

Posted by Steve Poore at Jan 19, 2010 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Please read the following information carefully about Show Your Stuff Day, which you child must attend on Sunday, January 24th at the Mercer Island Boys and Girls Club. There will be a make-up session on Saturday, January 30th, from 3-5pm for all ages. However, we strongly encourage all players to attend on the 24th.

        - 12 year olds: 10-11:30am (Last name A-L: please arrive between 10 and 10:45; M-Z: 10:45-11:30)

        - 11 year olds: 11:30am-1pm (A-L: 11:30-12:15; M-Z 12:15-1:00)

        - 10 year olds: 1-2:30pm (A-L: 1-1:45; M-Z: 1:45-2:30)

        - 8 & 9 year olds: 2:30-4pm (A-L: 2:30-3:15; M-Z: 3:15-4:00)

In order to verify each child’s eligibility, parents must bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate and proof of MI residency when you bring your child to check in. Proof of residency can be a parent’s driver’s license, phone or utility bill, etc. that shows your child’s permanent address on Mercer Island.

The purpose of “Show Your Stuff” Day is:

1) To evaluate each players’ hitting, fielding, and pitching skills in order to place each child in the appropriate division (Majors, AAA or AA) with other kids of similar skill level;

and 2) To enable us to distribute talent evenly and ensure that each team has an adequate number of pitchers and catchers.

Teams will be formed at the end of February.   Parents should park in the front parking lot of the MIBGC and proceed with their child to check-in. No parents will be allowed in the gym while the evaluations are in progress. It is expected that each child will be finished within 20-40 minutes after check-in, so parents should plan to return after approximately 30 minutes in the back parking lot of MIBGC to pick up their child. Each child should bring appropriate supplies including a baseball glove, a bat and batting helmet (bats and helmets will be available for players who don’t bring their own).

All players should wear tennis shoes.  Protective cups are recommended for all players. Please do not bring any balls into the gym, as hardballs may damage the floor.

If you have any questions, please contact Beth or Becky at the B&G Club, 232-4548 or MIAthletics@positiveplace.org.
