Ergathon - Sunday Feb. 7 10 am W. Springfield HS

The annual Langley Crew Ergathon, our most important fundraiser, is next Sunday, February 7 at West Springfield HS! The event starts at 10 with the arrival of athletes and coaches.

The Ergathon is the only mandatory fundraiser of the Crew season. Each family’s total Ergathon obligation is $300 which can be met by family-funding, sponsorships by others, or a combination thereof. If you choose not to take part in the e-letter campaign described within this letter, you may simply write a check for $300 to LCBC by March 17, 2010 and be done with this topic! If, however, you wish to solicit sponsorships by reaching out to friends, neighbors,
relatives, and businesses then please read on. In addition, the attached solicitation letter that you can send out describes the event very well!
Last year we introduced a new incentive to reduce your student’s travel expenses! We will continue it again this year. As mentioned, each crew family is required to contribute $300 to the Ergathon. These funds will be used to offset the general expenses of running the crew team (including equipment, coaches’ salaries and regatta fees). Anything earned by your athlete over the $300 obligation amount will be split 50-50 with LCBC and your athlete. That is, 50% of everything earned over $300 will be placed in a Personal Travel Account (PTA) for your athlete, while the other 50% will go to LCBC’s General Fund. The student’s PTA may be used toward travel-related expenses for away regattas and training. So what do you need to do?
1. Gather a list of email addresses for all the friends, neighbors, relatives, and businesses from whom you want
to solicit support.
2. Personalize the e-letter with the recipient’s name(s) at the top, then the student athlete’s name, telephone# and email address at the conclusion of the letter.
3. Personalize the Ergathon Pledge Form 2010 with the student athlete’s name on the first line of the form and attach it to each of the personalized emails you’ll be sending out.
4. If you choose to send letters via snail mail use the attached letter and pledge form personalized as described above. Just print it from your printer, then mail.
