The Santa Cruz Royals top A's in back-and-forth affair, 5-4

The Santa Cruz Royals outlasted A's on Sunday after four lead changes, squeaking out a 5-4 win.

The Santa Cruz Royals pulled out the win thanks to a strong fifth inning. The Santa Cruz Royals scored on a two-run triple by Chris Rains off #10, plating Matt Frandsen and Chris Highlander.

Chris Rains racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Santa Cruz Royals.

The top of the first saw the Santa Cruz Royals take an early lead, 2-0. Chris Rains got things going for the Santa Cruz Royals with a single. A stolen base then moved Chris Rains from first to second. Matt Fraser homered, scoring Chris Rains.

The Santa Cruz Royals would like to congratulate the following four players for making the 2015 SJMSBL All Star team. Representing the Royals this year will be position players Justin Baker and Chris Highlander, while pitchers Pascual Del Real and John Pardo will get some time on the mound. Come on out to San Jose Municipal stadium on Wednesday August 5 to show your support. Gates open at 6 pm and game starts at 7:15 pm. Concession stands will be open as well!

The Santa Cruz Royals muster 7 hits, drop 8-2 contest to the Giants

Despite a big day at the dish from Chris Rains, who finished 2-4, the Santa Cruz Royals lost 8-2 to the Giants at Aptos High School on Sunday.

#9, #11 and #1 helped lead the Giants. They combined for eight hits and six RBIs.

John Pardo was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed 3 earned runs in six innings, walked one and struck out two.

The lead stayed with the Giants after the first, when they scored two runs on a two-run single by #11.

The Giants piled on four more runs in the top of the fifth. The inning got off to a hot start when #1 singled, scoring #22. That was followed up by #11's double, plating #2 and #1.

Two runs in the bottom of the sixth helped the Santa Cruz Royals close their deficit to 7-2. A walk by Christopher Cooper and an RBI single by Matt Fraser triggered the Santa Cruz Royals' comeback. Joe Newman to end the Santa Cruz Royals threat.

Dual-threat carries the Santa Cruz Royals past the Angels 11-7

An impressive two-way performance from Pascual Del Real led the Santa Cruz Royals to a 11-7 win Sunday over the Angels, as Del Real came up huge at the dish and on the hill.

Del Real had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Del Real brought the heat against the Angels during his outing. Del Real held the Angels hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

The Santa Cruz Royals pulled out the win thanks to a strong fifth inning. The Santa Cruz Royals went up for good on a two-run single by Chris Highlander off #9, scoring Brian Mangan and Craig Doleshel.

John Pardo got the win for the Santa Cruz Royals. He allowed no earned runs over 2 2/3 innings. Pardo struck out none, walked none and gave up one hit.

The Santa Cruz Royals' Christopher Cooper, Matt Fraser and Del Real combined for six hits and four RBIs.

The top of the second saw the Santa Cruz Royals take an early lead, 1-0. Joe Newman singled, bringing home Matt Fraser after a single by Matt Fraser got things started.

The Angels pushed across two runs in both the third inning and the fifth. In the third, the Angels scored on a wild pitch, scoring #15.

The Santa Cruz Royals didn't give up the lead after the fifth inning. Additional runs came from an RBI double by Brian Mangan, two two-run blasts, and two singles.

Three runs in the bottom of the sixth helped the Angels close their deficit to 11-7. An RBI single by #22, a groundout by #18, and an RBI single by #14 triggered the Angels' comeback. #57 to end the Angels threat.

Hot bat leads the Santa Cruz Royals past the Angels 6-3

An impressive effort by Chris Rains carried the Santa Cruz Royals to a 6-3 win over the Angels on Sunday at Aptos High School.

Chris Rains hit two home runs for the Santa Cruz Royals. Chris Rains went 2-2 in the game with two RBIs and three runs scored. Chris Rains homered in the first and fourth innings.

The Santa Cruz Royals relied on Craig Doleshel to eat up innings en route to the win. Doleshel allowed no earned runs, six hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings of work.

Santa Cruz Royals closer Pascual Del Real put away the final three outs to record the save.

The Santa Cruz Royals went up for good in the first, scoring one run on a solo home run by Chris Rains.

One run in the top of the fifth helped the Angels close their deficit to 2-1. An error triggered the Angels' comeback. The Santa Cruz Royals stopped the rally after Doleshel got #8 to ground out.

The Santa Cruz Royals tacked on another four runs in the sixth. A error scored Chris Highlander, Chris Rains and Marco Del Real to get the Santa Cruz Royals on the board in the inning.

After pushing across one run in the top of the seventh, the Angels faced just a 6-2 deficit. set off the Angels rally. #15 to end the Angels threat.

One run in the top of the ninth helped the Angels close their deficit to 6-3. An RBI single by #44 fueled the Angels' comeback. Finally, Del Real got #37 to strike out to end the game.
