CHS Ultimate Registration Night is Monday, February 27, 6:30, CHS Commons. Each Ultimate athlete (+ one parent) is required to attend this evening. Registration forms are available on this website, at the CHS Activities Office or at the Registration Night. All forms must be returned to the Activities Office by Friday, March 2 in order to meet the clothing order deadline.
We look forward to seeing you!
The 2012 Registration Forms for Cathedral Ultimate athletes are NOW on this website. Click on “Documents” (underneath the website banner line). Each athlete is required to complete 4 documents:
CHS Ultimate Registration Form
CHS Medical Authorization (a USAU form)
USAU Registration Form and Waiver
CHS Emergency Card
When completed, please place them in an envelope with a check (for registration fee and any jerseys/shorts/disc money) and return to the CHS Activities Office no later than Friday March 2, 2012. Any forms received after that date will miss the clothing order deadline – special orders following that date will cost approximately 50% more and we cannot guarantee that they will arrive in time for the first tournament.
You may also bring the completed forms to Registration Night on Monday, February 27, 6:30, CHS Commons.
Thanks for your assistance.
The dates have been announced for the CSB and SJU Indoor tourneys:
St. John’s Indoor Tourney
St. John’s Indoor Ultimate tourney is on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Tourney starts at about 1:00 PM in the Spectrum (SJU fieldhouse)with the Championship final at approximately 9:00 PM. We will be car-pooling at about noon that day. Stay tuned.
St Benedict’s Indoor Tourney
The CSB Indoor tourney is scheduled for Saturday, February 11. Unfortunately, our Women’s team has several conflicts that day (ACT testing, Dance competition, Gumbo Supper) so they will not be playing in this tourney. Stay tuned for any updates.
That’s right…you have found the CHS Ultimate 2012 website. Glad you are here. As the season gets closer, we will be announcing all of the key events on this website: practices, indoor tourneys, outdoor tourneys, Registration Nite, Taco Night. It will be a great source of information about Ultimate at CHS.
If you haven’t already heard, the Captains who you voted for at last spring’s picnic at Wilson Park are: Ben and Dan, Ella and Hannah. You will be hearing from them quite a bit over the winter months. They want to get some indoor Ultimate going while the snow flies. They will also be asking you to help them recruit some more high school people who want to play the best sport on Earth (no wonder it’s called Ultimate!).
Who can play? Anyone can! You’ll have to learn how to throw the disc—backhands, flicks, hammers. You’ll want to figure out the game’s lingo—-like “stalls, hucks, cup, handler, cutter, vertical stack, pull, mark, fast count, dump.” You will want to build your lung power (for running) and your flexibility (for quick direction changes) and your brainpower (for game tactics). You can be a 7th grader or a senior (and any grade in between). You can even attend another school. Most importantly, you have to be committed to having a great time with some great people on some great teams.
So stay tuned…and keep those discs flying.
It was a fine springtime season of Ultimate. Each team grew together throughout the season, practicing and playing hard. You all accomplished a lot. Congratulations!
Summertime: Pick-up Ultimate every Sunday and Thursday evening at 6 PM at Oak Hill School (2600 County Road 136). All you have to do is show up and play. Current players, alumni and alumnae players, and area athletes are all welcome. Bring a dark shirt and a white shirt.
Have a great summertime!
