The 12U Hustlers played host to the Bulldog Baseball Club out of Gettysburg/Hanover, PA on Wednesday night and showed no signs of looking ahead to the customary Memorial Day weekend break. The young Hustlers clicked in all facets as they beat the Bulldogs 14-0. Nick DeLisi got the start on the hill and he was rock solid as usual. DeLisi held the team from up north hitless with four strikeouts over two innings and the Hustler bats sizzled on a beautiful night at the park. JT Sachar singled to open the first, DeLisi walked, Tyler Prather ripped a double to left, Gabe Torres hit a sacrifice fly, Brandon Bradshaw smoked a single to left center, Ryan Talbert singled up the middle and Matt Cunningham doubled to the fence in right center producing a 4-0 lead. The Hustlers would go on to score three in the second, four in the third and three more in the fourth. The Hustlers tallied 18 hits in five innings. Sachar and Talbert led the way with three hits a piece; one of Talbert’s was a double high off the fence in left center. Prather, Bradshaw and Jake Sherdel each had two hits. Dustin Isanogle had a two-run double. Bradshaw, Sherdel, Luke Schlimm and Prather each pitched a scoreless inning. Bradshaw struck out three and Schlimm fanned two batters.

Hustlers get knocked down but get back up

The Frederick Hustlers forgot to set their alarm clocks for Saturday’s 11:00am opener against the PG Select Blue Sox and found themselves on the wrong end of an 11-1 thrashing.  PG’s Luis Noda had something to do with that as he held the black and gold to two hits and one run with four strikeouts in three innings of work. Nick Delisi took the mound for the Hustlers and was deserted by his usually stout defense which committed an uncharacteristic seven errors. The Hustlers only mustered four hits in the five inning game shortened by the run rule. Luke Schlimm led the way with two hits and Ryan Talbert and Dustin Isanogle each contributed one.

Game two was a different story. Schlimm tossed a five inning gem striking out six and only allowing five hits in an 11-1 Hustler blowout. Schlimm dominated and the Hustler bats came to life. The Hustlers had ten hits with JT Sachar going 3-3 with two doubles. Matt Cunningham, Talbert and DeLisi each came thru with key run-scoring hits. Tyler Prather had a double.

The Hustlers are back in action Tuesday evening at Yellow Springs against the Gettysburg Bulldogs. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00pm on Field 1.
