Hustlers Win Sports at the Beach Rally Cap Championship
The Frederick Hustlers started game one of the 13-team Rally Cap Open Championship at Sports at the Beach in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware with a single, HBP and a 3-run bomb to straight away center (Brandon Bradshaw) and finished the championship game with a walk-off grand slam missile to right center (Marshall Mott). In between, the Hustlers mashed 24 home runs and had 58 hits in outscoring five opponents by a combined score of 74-6. “People talk about momentum in sports all the time. You just saw it in the College Regionals with Davidson. You saw it this year in local High School baseball. The guys caught fire as a team. They were having fun and playing loose. We just tried to stay out of their way and not mess things up,” noted Coach Main. Playing on 270 foot fences, nine different players left the yard and several were tape measure shots. Dustin Isanogle and Brandon Bradshaw were named Co-MVPs. Isanogle went 9-11 (.818) with two home runs and turned in several web gems in CF. Bradshaw provided the punch and went 9-13 (.692) with six home runs. Matt Cunningham played a flawless shortstop and turned in an 8-12 (.667) performance with two home runs. Colby Patterson set the tone out of the leadoff spot by going 8-13 (.615) with a home run. Nick DeLisi was huge behind the plate and went 5-9 (.556) with three home runs. Marshall Mott was 6-12 (.500) out of the cleanup spot with four home runs (two walkoffs). Eric Ball was 4-7 (.571) with a home run; Gabe Torres was 4-8 (.500) with two home runs and Tyler Prather went 3-8 (.375) with two home runs. The Hustlers beat the Delmarva Aces Coastal 19-0, Go Wags Mountain Lions 13-1, Mid Penn Prospects 18-1, Delmarva Aces East 11-1 and the MVP Terps East (VA) 13-3. Stephen Betz, Luke Schlimm, Matt Cunningham and Marshall Mott all pitched well throughout the tournament. Mott came up really big in the Championship game.
The Hustlers are back in action Saturday at Yellow Springs against the Arena Starz. First pitch of the doubleheader is at noon.

Betz Shines, DeLisi Opens Floodgates as Hustlers Sweep
The Frederick Hustlers locked horns with one of the better teams in the CRAB League in the opener on Sunday and neither team disappointed. Hunter King of the Rawlings High Heat and Steven Betz of the Hustlers were equally good tossing six innings of scoreless baseball. Betz limited the team from Anne Arundel County to three hits and struck out three. The Hustlers turned the scoreless game over to the bullpen in the final frame and the Heat scored a single run on a walk, double and single. The Hustlers showed incredible poise and fortitude in the bottom half of the final frame. Marshall Mott drew a leadoff walk before Gabe Torres hit a scorching grounder that turned into a 6-4-3 double play. With two outs, Tyler Prather drew a base on balls before Matt Cunningham hit a ground rule double that bounced over the fence in left center. The unlucky bounce prevented Prather from scoring but the Hustlers had runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs. Nick DeLisi, who had drilled a double to left center earlier in the game, stepped to the plate and brought the home crowd to its feet. DeLisi unleashed a two run single up the middle for the walk-off win. Marshall Mott had the only other Hustler hit with a double to left in the fourth.
DeLisi’s big hit in the opener seemed to loosen up the home team in the nightcap even though the boys in black and gold gave credit to Cheetos and some special fans in attendance. In any case, after watching the Lake Shore Graysox beat the Rawlings ballclub in the middle game, the Hustlers came out on fire in the nightcap and scored six in the first and eight in the second against LakeShore. The rout was on as the Hustlers won 18-3 in a game shortened by the run rule. Dustin Isanogle singled on a line drive to right in the first before Brandon Bradshaw drove a monster two-run blast that one-hopped the school building in straight away center for a two-run home run. DeLisi then tripled before Prather, Eric Ball, Austin May and Colby Patterson followed with singles. In all, the Hustlers recorded 17 hits with Bradshaw collecting four with two doubles and a home run. Ball ended up with three hits while Prather, May and Betz each had two. Bradshaw, DeLisi and Ball each pitched well for the Hustlers.
