Tryouts & Weight Lifting

 Weight Lifting and Speed & Agility – I setup the below times. If your son isn’t in a fall sport he should be in the weight room or on the track to help him prepare for the season. This time is set up for our program to help us reach our program goals. The school provides a professional trainer 5 days a week so we need to take advantage of this. I’m in there most of the days for help and support.

-Monday, Wednesday & Friday – Weight Lifting from 3:15pm till finished

-Tuesday & Thursday – Speed + Agility – from 2:30pm to 3:30pm

 

Tryouts - Every player that wants to play at Hartland High School from 12th grade to 9th grade will tryout on March 9th, 10th & 11th in 2015. It’s a three day tryout that is used to select the best student-athletes for our boy’s lacrosse program. Each player will need to be checked-in, where he will be given a lacrosse jersey for evaluations, and ready for tryouts at his grades designated time and location. Here are the times and grades to report to (based on last years times):

-11th & 12th Graders - 3pm to 5pm at Old High School Gym/Aux field

-9th & 10th Graders - 5pm to 7pm at Old High School Gym/Aux field

All players get evaluated by the coaching staff in eight areas: Passing, catching, shooting, general game knowledge, speed, ground balls, defensive technique, and work ethic/attitude. A player can score from 1-3 in each area, work ethic/attitude will score 1-5 because we believe that is what is needed to make our program stronger. After the three day tryout each player will receive a letter letting them know if they made one of the teams.

2014 Mulch Drive

Attention All HHS Lax players and Parents:
 
Spring is finally here! Is there any homeowner in Michigan that doesn't need mulch for Spring landscaping? The Hartland High School Lacrosse Parents Club Board has organized a Mulch Sale Drive to raise funds to support our boy's lacrosse program. Attached is the order form that includes details on how the fundraiser will work.
  • HHS Lax players/parents will sell mulch through 4/22
  • Mulch orders will be ready for pick up on 5/3 (Saturday) from 10:00am-4:00pm at the Hartland Target parking lot (staffed by players/parents)
  • For a delivery fee of $15.00 we will deliver and stack mulch for orders in the Hartland area (players/parents)
 
We are asking all HHS Lax families to not only purchase their mulch through our fundraiser but also to solicit their relatives, friends and neighbors to support our fundraiser by buying their mulch through our program. All everyone needs to do is fill out an order form and turn it in with a check to one of our lacrosse coaches or board members Jeff Schenck, Gina or Glen Wistinghausen, Jean Chaffee, Tara Cowell, or Doris Highland.
 
Mulch sales have been very successful for a number of high school sports programs in Michigan. We have high hopes not only for our first year but believe we can grow this into an annual major fundraiser for Hartland High School Boy's Lacrosse.  This can become our signature fundraising event. Just like our teams on the field we will only achieve success by everyone doing their part and working together. There are a number of important lacrosse program needs this initiative can help fund. Examples include new uniforms, indoor lacrosse facility practice time (when winter won't let up), equipment needs (balls, nets, etc.), coaches needs as well as potentially reduce families out of pocket program expense requirements.
 
 
I will be handing out 10 order forms to each player as well as coaches at practice tonight so we can get started.

3/28 Update from Coach Gafner

Varsity - 2:30pm to 3pm - Film in Mr. Cheney’s Room with Coaches
3pm to 3:30pm - Stretching & Workout with Coach Chez on Track
3:30pm to 4pm - Time to get to locker room & out to practice field on time 
4pm to 6pm - Practice time on back fields (Dress warm)

JV- 3:30pm to 4pm - Film in Mr. Cheney’s Room with Coaches

4:30pm to 5pm - Time to get to locker room & out to practice field on time

2.Saturday JV will have practice at 9:30am to 11:30am at the current high school practice fields. Locker room will be open at 9am. So if anyone wants to go to the Varsity game they can still make it.

3. Saturday's Varsity game is at 2pm at Salem. Bus leaves at 12:15pm from the locker room.

4. I'm also working on getting the apparel store back up so we can place some more orders.
