Team Australia

Posted by David Wetmore at Jul 27, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

SPECIAL EVENT -- JULY 25 TO JULY 31

District 57 will be hosting "Team Australia" -- a team of 11/12 year olds from Australia.   This will be a team that has been eliminated from Int'l Allstar competition... and they have chosen D57 as their site to visit in the U.S.......   Little League Baseball is approx. 3 years old in Australia - so the exposure to D57 and the U.S. will be brand new.

Event is a great success -- our visitors - 50 strong arrived via Virgin Air to SFO where they were greeted by a large contingent of "host" families from District 57.    The first major event for the Australian guests was their participation in the Opening Ceremonies for the Nor Cal Division II Championships.   Again - a great success - and you can see the picture(s) on the D57 site.

Games Played vs Livermore American, Pleasanton Foothill, Danville 11's, Danville 12's, Pleasanton National, San Ramon Valley 11's and San Ramon Valley 12's.    BBQ's - BBQ's and more BBQ's by host teams and host families -- it has been a fun week.

Visitor Highlights -- a bus trip / tour to San Francisco -- Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street, Pier 39, China Town; SF Giants vs Pirates; Oakland A's vs Toronto and many other Nor Cal events.

D57 Highlight - Great Friendships gained --- first of hopefully many shared visits.
