The Lakeland boys varsity track team got their first win since 2009 in exciting fashion clipping the Warriors of Delaware Valley 76-73.  The meet essentially came down to the 4x4 relay where freshman Mark Arzie held off a AAA district medalist in the last few meters winning the race by a hundreth of a second.  Arzie was joined by Timmy Hackenberg, Zach Krieger, and Casey Albino.  Arzie also won the mile and 800.  The 4x8 team set the tone with a dominating win in the first event.  That team consisted of Scotty Cortes, Tim Vonstorch, Paul Szuistikowski, and Zach Krieger.  Freshman Nathan Morgan won the 3200, Jake Noldy won the pole vault, Dante Deantionio got his first career win in the shot put and Gavin O'Donnell helped clinch the meet with a triple jump win.  The girls dominated from the beginning winning 106-43.  The 4x8 team of Lauren Holt, Natalie Tuffy, Madaline Dastalfo, and Alex Miller started it off with a convincing win.  Cassidy Jenkins won both hurdle races.  Sarah Larkin set a PR in the 100 with a time of 12.5.  She also won the 200 and anchored the 4x1 team to victory.  Ashton Boyarsky won the long and triple jumps and Alex Miller won the 2 mile.  The girls move to 2-0 and the boys jump to 1-1.  The next meet is Tuesday @ North Pocono.
Although almost every boy set personal records in their respective events, they still fell to DV 49-74.  The 4x8 team of Nick Setta, James Eskra, Paul Forbes, and Curtis Reeves got their first win of the year, while Mike Arzie won the two distance events.  Paul Forbes won the long jump and Antonio Cerminaro won the shot put.  The girls team cruised to a 82-40 win.  Kayla Agentowicz and Brooke Estadt led the way with four wins.  Madison Harding added three wins.  Katie Retzbach won the triple jump.  Taylor Flynn won the 100 and Molly Mikulak won the shot put.  Christine Alzelmi scored her first career win in the 300 hurdles.  The boys drop to 0-2 and the girls move to 2-0.  The next meet is next Wednesday at home vs. North Pocono.

Varsity Splits with Valley View

The boys team lost 110-40 with Casey Albino winning the 400 and the 4x1 relay team of Koda Smith, Mike Karwaski, Alex Reider, and Tim Hackenberg posting another win on the day.  Gavin O'Donnell tied for first in the triple jump.  The girls edged out VV with a 80-70 final score.  Freshman Cassidy Jenking posted two wins in two hurdle races, Sarah Larkin posted three wins in the 100,200, and 4x1, Ashton Boyarsky won two jumps and was  a member of the 4x1, newcomer Makensie Kaiser won the 400, and Breann Clause-Walton won the shot put.  The boys record stands at 0-1 while the girls improve to 1-0.  The next meet is Tuesday vs. Delaware Valley.

Jr. High Splits with Valley View

The boys team sputtered to a 34-87 loss.  Mike Arzie and Colin Cooper added two 2nd place finishes each.  Brandon Donahue and the 4x4 relay were the only winners on the day.  The girls team won with a 73-49 score.  Kayla Agentowicz added four wins, Molly Mikulak won the two throws, and 7th graders Brooke Estadt and Madison Harding chipped in three wins each.  The boys now stand at 0-1 and the girls improve to 1-0.  The next meet is @ Delaware Valley on Monday April 2nd.
