Thank you from Leyden Coach

Posted by Paul Wright on Aug 29 2011 at 09:11AM PDT

Dear Coach Wright and the Huskie Soccer Program,

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to your program and its parents for their efforts after your game against Larkin High School. After a well-played match, a Larkin player collapsed outside of out stadium due to severe dehydration. Our trainer was immediately notified and hurried to the young man. Upon arrival, several people were already trying to help the young man and many, if not all, were OPRF parents. With teamwork, focus, and communication, the adults involved worked with patience and calm during a very intense situation. The young man collapsed, began to have seizures, and had a difficult time breathing. At one point, the young man lost consciousness, further adding to need to act to possibly save a life. The OPRF parents remained calm and were able to assist our trainer until the paramedics arrived, at which they communicated very clearly what was happening. Through these actions, the young man was able to be safely sent to the hospital where he received the necessary medical attention to ensure his safety.

I cannot begin to express my sincere gratitude towards those parents for what they did in a time of crisis. They made a decision to help another in a time of great need and helped to save a young man’s life. I am sure the parents of the player, who were unable to be at the game, are very grateful for such actions, as am I.

Coach Wright, please pass along our thanks to your program and its parents. They truly understand the meaning of teamwork. Despite the fact that during the game they may have worn different jerseys, at the end of the game, they know we are all here for the support and well-being of all of the kids. I am thankful that they stepped up in a time of need and I hope that they know that their actions were greatly appreciated.

Best of luck the rest of the season, your team has played great to start the season and I hope it continues for you and your team!

Sincerely
Coach Valintis.
