Chatham Squeaks By Wallaceburg A
Posted by John Foster on Aug 16 2009 at 12:09PM

Chatham had their last road game of the season on Wednesday night in Wallaceburg and they came away with mixed results.
Chatham was missing 4 regulars as both Logan and Jana Kucera, Sydney Sabourin and Alyssa Broeders were away. With big shoes to fill, the strikers called up Paige Cunningham, Riley Torres and Natalie Pinsoneault from the house league program. Ceara Travis also made the long drive back from Sauble Beach to make sure she could do her part to help out!
Wallaceburg played inspired and improved soccer against Chatham, throwing all they had at the strikers and at times giving them fits. Kaylee Boulley held strong in the net to keep Wallaceburg off the scoreboard in the first half. Chatham got an early goal from Ceara Travis who buried a nice long pass from Paige Cunningham and then Paulina Maslak put Chatham up 2 - 0 after she converted a Natalie Pinsoneault pass.
Chatham seemed to let up a bit in the second half and they found themselves scrambling in front of their own goal from time to time. Despite some timely saves from Kaylee, Chatham finally conceded their first goal of the season against a Wallaceburg team and the game was now a close affair!
Ceara Travis then converted a free kick from just outside the box to give Chatham another 2 goal lead. However Wallaceburg would not give up and another turnover in their own end resulted in Chatham giving up another goal.
Chatham however were not about to lose or tie this game and Paulina Maslak streaked down the wing after taking a Ceara Travis feed and calmly placed the ball home in the corner of the net to ice the 4- 2 victory.
All 3 call up players more than held their own and contributed to the victory. Ceara Travis was the catalyst that sparked Chatham's attack and Kaylee Boulley made sure the 20 some odd shots she faced did not enter her net!
Kaylee Boulley earned the game star for her great effort and steady work in between the pipes.
Chatham starts their playoff run on Monday night at home agaist Wallaceburg B.
