ESCONDIDO -- League openers, especially for contending softball teams, are a time to be nervous no matter how much experience a player possesses.

Torrey Pines High freshman Rachel Nasland is no different, but she sure didn't seem nervous while striking out hitter after hitter in her Avocado League debut Tuesday.

Nasland tossed a complete-game two-hitter against host Escondido, striking out 13 in a 4-0 victory that took less than 75 minutes.
