Watertown Takes Down Reading

Posted by John Halsey on Jul 26 2017 at 05:00PM PDT

The Bulldogs took on the Watertown Reds again on Thursday night in Watertown and took a tough loss, dropping the game 12-3. The Bulldogs offense got off to a hot start when they scored two runs in the first inning. Corey DiLoreto and Mike Taylor both had RBI base hits to give Reading the early lead. Watertown’s offense fired right back though, when they scored two runs of their own in the bottom half of the first inning. The Bulldogs got their third run of the game in the top of the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Drew Finn.

The Bulldogs swung the bats well on Thursday, collecting eight team hits, but they could not keep up with the Red’s offense that was firing on all cylinders. Alex Mandurs got the start for the Bulldogs and pitched three innings allowing four earned runs and striking out two. Will McFadden made his Bulldogs debut, pitching one inning in relief.

In the loss, Chris Seidl had a big game, collecting two hits and even recording two outs in relief in the seventh inning. John Halsey returned to the Bulldogs and went 1-3 with a double and a run scored.

The Bulldogs will get a few days off and then return to action on Monday night at Endicott College against the Andre Chiefs.
