Bulldogs Fall to Chiefs Despite a Strong Offensive Night

The Reading Bulldogs traveled to Malden Tuesday night to face the Andre Chiefs on back to back days. Although the Bulldogs outhit the Chiefs twelve to eight, Andre came out on top with the 7-4 win.

Reading started out strong scoring a run in the first off of a Zac Talis single to score Corey DiLoretto. After allowing 4 runs to Andre in the bottom half, the Bulldogs struck again in the 2nd inning when Rosario Missiti hit an RBI triple that scored Mike Taylor from first base.

In the 4th inning, Andre put up 3 more runs pushing their lead to 7-2. The game stayed at this score until the 6th where Reading’s bats started to come alive. They put up 2 runs when Chris Seidl and Rosario Missiti each singled to start the inning and were brought home by a 2 out 2 RBI single from Darren Hartwell, making it 7-4.

The game ended with this final score of 7-4 as the Bulldogs took the loss. Jack Burke started the game for Reading going the first 3 innings and Chris Seidl came into relief to pitch the rest of the game. Tim Dunphy threw a complete game for the Chiefs.

Offensively for the Bulldogs, Mike DeDonato had 3 hits and both Corey DiLoretto and Rosario Missiti had two hits apiece.

The Bulldogs will play Andre for the fourth and final time on Thursday night at Endicott College.
