Reading Falls to Lexington 8-2

Posted by John Halsey on Jul 20 2017 at 05:00PM PDT

At Lexington High School Thursday night, the Bulldogs squared off against the Blue Sox. In a sloppy game where errors played a big role, the Bulldogs were defeated by the Blue Sox 8-2.

The first inning looked promising for Reading as Marciano and DeDonato led-off with back to back hits, but were unable to score any runs. In the bottom half of the inning things did not start so well for the Bulldogs as they gave up 4 runs on 3 hits and 3 errors.

Through two more innings of play Lexington was able to score 3 runs off of 3 hits and 1 error, while Reading pushed across 2 runs in the top of the third. The scoring for the Bulldogs came off the bat of a Ryan Wolfsberg single and a Chris Bosco sacrifice fly. After three full innings of play the score was 7-2 Lexington.

The final score finished at 8-2 Lexington as they were able to add one more run in the 6th inning. For Reading, Marciano and Missiti each had a game high two hits. Out of the bullpen for the Bulldogs Alex Mandrus stayed dominant with 3 strikeouts in two innings, while only facing the minimum 6 batters.

Reading will play host to the Watertown Reds at Endicott College Sunday night, looking to get hot as the regular season winds down.
