2016-2017 Travel Tryouts - Registration is Open

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POSTING REGARDING TRAVEL TRYOUTS FOR 2016-2017

The STHA will also welcome players who have not completed the STHA Online Registration Process to walk-on for travel tryouts. Players will be able to pay tryout fees of $20 per player, per division when registering.  All players trying out must have satisified all applicable requirements (completed financial release, last season's travel jersey returned/purchased, no outstanding financial  committment to the STHA, etc.).

There has been an update to the first Midget 18U tryout date and time.  Due to the late coaching change for the 18U Tournament Bound team, it became necessary to move the first Midget 18U tryout to Sunday, April 17 from 12:15-1:00pm (was originally Saturday April 16 from 3:45-5:00pm).  We apologize for any inconvenience due to this unforeseen change.

Tryout dates for the 2016-2017 Travel teams will be April 16th/17th and April 24th of this year. Tryout times are as follows:

First Tryouts:

All tryouts will be held at the Ice House Sports Complex, 614 River Road, Binghamton, NY 13901.

This year the STHA is offering online registration process for travel tryouts. Online registration is now open, and will run through April 14th. You can access the online registration form by clicking below:

Players will be able to pay tryout fees online during this process.  The flat fee is $20 per player, per division.

Please note that you will be required to enter the 2015-2016 USA Hockey Confirmation number (that you received from USA Hockey when you registered at the beginning of the season) for each player you are registering for tryouts.

This process is being implemented to help travel tryouts run smoother. This will also give us information to ensure enough ice time is made available for the number of players who will be trying out.

Please also note that due to changes in NYSAHA policy, any player wishing to tryout with the STHA for 2016-2017 who has handed in a Financial Release form to play with another USA Hockey-affiliated Spring/Summer team, or to tryout with another USA Hockey association for 2016-2017, will need to secure a completed Financial Release form from that organization and bring it with you to the STHA tryouts  in order to be let on the ice.  This is a NYSAHA policy that must be followed by the STHA.

From Travel Policy: 2.1 Tryouts and Selection- Page 5:

“All travel tryout participants shall complete an online registration to register for STHA travel team tryouts. The online registration was put in place to facilitate ease of check-in at the tryouts and be used to provide the STHA with information on the number of players trying out and other pertinent information such as financial releases. The online registration process will be posted on the STHA website by March 1st, of each year. Players will be allowed to tryout if they do not preregister, however there may be an additional fee for players who do not preregister. A minimum of two tryout dates shall be set for each division. A tryout fee shall be charged for each division a player is trying out for. Tryout fees shall not be prorated for any reason. Players are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions; however, each player shall attend at least one session for each age division for which they are trying out. Players wishing to play for a Non-Tournament Bound team only shall let the VP of Travel know their intentions, prior to the first tryout.”

Travel Jersey Collection:

A player shall not be permitted to attend tryouts if they, or any other immediate family member, have any outstanding obligation to the STHA, including unreturned jerseys or equipment of any kind. Please make arrangements for your player’s jersey to be collected prior to tryouts. Remember you can purchase your players travel jerseys from last season for the price of $70.
