Ridgewood Junior Wrestling

1. Apparel Order

Please click here to download the order form for Ridgewood Junior Wrestling apparel. These items are in addition to the uniform each child receives as part of his registration fee. These comfortable and well-designed items for wrestlers, coaches and parents make great holiday gifts, but orders need to be received by Dec. 1 to have them arrive on time. Please return the completed apparel form and bring with payment to a practice or the parents meeting before Dec 1.

2. First Day of Practice:

In case you missed it, below is preliminary scheduling info for the season which starts Sunday and Monday depending on grade and experience level:

A.  Grade 2-5 Practice (Younger Group)  - Monday, November 24th,  at RHS Gym 2 from 6:45-8:15 pm. This practice is primarily for grade 2-5 wrestlers who have less than 4 years experience.

B.  Grade 6-8 Practice (Older Group) - Tuesday, November 25th, at RHS Gym 2 from 7:00-8:30 pm. This practice is primarily for grade 6-8 wrestlers who also have at least 2 years experience.

C.  First Dual Team Practice - Sunday, November 23rd, from 3:30 - 5 pm at Renaissance Wrestling Academy on 485 Boulevard, NJ 07407 (inside Tiger Schulman facility). We will email families to inform who should attend this practice in a separate email, but this will be primarily for more experienced wrestlers in grades 5-8. Our first dual event is the weekend of Dec 13 & 14 at the Montville Duals and that kicks off a busy 7-10 days of matches so it is important to attend all practices prior to that so we are prepared to compete.

3.  Recurring Practice Dates & Times During Season (after Thanksgiving):

A.   Mondays 6:45 - 8:15 pm (Grade 2-5)

B.   Tuesdays 7:00 - 8:30 (Grade 6-8),

C.   Thursdays - 6:30-7:45 (Grade 2-5)  & 7:45-9:15 (Grade 6-8)

D.   Saturday practices - RJW will have practice in the late morning on the first 3 Saturdays in December primarily for all wrestlers except those on the dual team. Exact scheduling information will be available at the first practices.

RJW will attempt to make the above days and times the regular practice schedule for the entire season, but we will inevitably have conflicts that will necessitate switching a few practice dates.  Our practice and match schedule will soon be posted on our website and we will email participants early each week to be sure everyone is clear on scheduling dates and changes.

4. Parents Meeting on 11/24 & 11/25 in evening at RHS:

RJW will host parent meetings to coincide with the 1st practices for each of the younger and older group at Ridgewood High School on 11/24 & 11/25. We will provide important information regarding health & safety, program goals and initiatives, additional scheduling information and answer any questions you may have. Therefore, it is absolutely imperative that parents attend 1 of these 2 meetings on these dates.

Congratulations State Medalists!

Last weekend 2 RJW wrestlers won the NJ State Championship while 3 others came away with medals. This is a terrific accomplishment so please join us in congratulating them!

·       Mickey O'Malley - First Place

·       Kieran Calvetti - Third Place

·       Anthony Vaccarella - Third Place

·       Colin Calvetti - Sixth Place

In addition, Travis Tavoso, Michael Malozemov, Jake Otterstedt and Stuart McElroy all finished among the top 12 wrestlers in their weight classes in the state. The hard work and commitment these boys have made to be among the very best wrestlers in the state has been tremendous. RJW is proud of all state tourney participants for making this effort in what is undoubtedly the pinnacle event of our season. To celebrate their effort, RJW is having a year end photo for all state qualifiers and region place-winners at RHS at 11.00 am next Sunday (3/30). Please meet near the football field.

Mahwah Novice Tourney Results

This past weekend many of 1^st & 2^nd year RJW wrestlers competed in the Mahwah Novice Tourney. Congratulations to all participants for making the effort and to the following place winners:
