(Please read carefully before participating in tryouts)

Tenafly Lions Little League invites all player’s ages 7 to 14 from the town of Tenafly to try out for one of our travel teams for 2009 Summer Travel Baseball.

Travel baseball consists of very competitive teams and unfortunately not all of our young and promising players who try out can be asked to participate on a team.  Travel is not REC and unfortunately not everyone will be chosen for a team.  As parents, please make sure your child is aware that there is a possibility that he/she will be cut and with that will come disappointment.  We would hope and encourage that all the kids continue to play recreation baseball with their friends and continue to work to improve their skills and consider coming back the following season and trying out again.  Travel Baseball requires a significant commitment on both the player and his/her family.  Players are expected to be at all of the practices and games throughout the season.  If you anticipate potential conflicts or missed games due to participation in other sports or club teams etc…, please consider that there are other players who would be 100% committed to baseball.  Tenafly Travel will be participating in the North East Bergen All Stars Spring League (NEBAS) and information on the league can be found on our website www.tenaflylittleleague.com/2009SummerTravel and at the following link: http://www.eteamz.com/TenaflyLionsLittleLeague/news/index.cfm?cat=584686

The TLL Board of Directors and coaches/volunteers take these tryouts very seriously and will do everything in their power to make it is fair as possible for everyone involved.  We understand that these are young children and everyone develops differently and will give them every opportunity by striving to make it an even playing field for all candidates. Unfortunately, we will be making some very difficult decisions and we ask that you understand and manage your and your child’s expectations accordingly.

The eligibility requirement to play Tenafly Travel Baseball is now based on a player’s age and no longer on the grade he/she is in.  A player is eligible to participate in a particular age level based on the player's age on May 1, 2009.  To help determine what age group your kid should be playing, please utilize the little league age calculator in the specified section of our website.

We hope to be able to field 1 team in each of the following age groups: 9U, 10U, 11U – 12U, 13U, 14U and 2 teams for 8U.  This will be based on the amount of interest at each age level. Each team will consist of approximately 12 – 13 players allowing playing time for every kid on the roster.
