In the locker room before the game, Coach Steve Bogas told his team there were three games they wanted to win this season: Another team's home opener, their own home opener and the last game of the year.

The Wildcats took one step toward accomplishing that goal as they traveled to Parma and defeated the host Redmen, 6-0.

Jake Wolfe and Jake Malone took the game into their own hands early on, each tallying a pair of goals in the first two periods, giving the Cats a 4-0 lead headed to the third. Anton Liubin and Joe Wilson added goals in the third for Mayfield for the 6-0 final.

Goalie Matt Mramer turned away all 18 shots fired his way for his first shutout on the young season, despite the best efforts from injured defenseman Joe Cavotta in the stands trying to get in his head.

Freshman Alex Baele provided the most exciting play of the game when he earned a penalty shot after getting hauled down on a breakaway in the third period but he was unable to convert.

The Wildcats will try to accomplish the second of Coach Bogas' goals when they play host to the Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders on Sunday at Gilmour. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
