Player Eligibility for Fall Soccer Programs.
We offer two soccer programs in the fall to resident children in the Borough of Hawthorne.
Children born on or between August 1, 2000 and July 31, 2010 are eligible to play in Hawthorne Soccer's 2018 Divisional Program - a traveling recreation program in the Northwest Bergen Soccer Association.
Children born on or between August 1, 2010 and July 31, 2013 are eligible to play in Hawthorne Soccer's 2018 Instructional Program - an in-town recreation program.
Parents must show proof of Hawthorne residency when registering their children in the spring. There will be no exceptions to our residency requirements!

Indoor Soccer Families: during inclement weather, if Hawthorne Public Schools close or cancel afterschool activities, then the indoor soccer program for that evening is cancelled.
This website will not provide updates on indoor soccer game status. Please check with your child's coach if you need additional information.

HAWTHORNE SOCCER ASSOCIATION INDOOR
WINTER 2018
REFEREE'S AND COACH'S GUIDELINES
1.) AGES 5 & 6 - 6 PLAYERS PER SIDE. AGES 7 & 8 – PLAYERS PER SIDE.
2.) IF ONE TEAM IS SHORT PLAYERS THE COACHES DECIDE ON THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS IN ORDER TO MAKE THE GAME FAIR FOR BOTH TEAMS.
3.) CANNOT SCORE A GOAL FROM YOUR DEFENSIVE ZONE ( HALF COURT LINE IS THE DIVIDER).
4.) CANNOT SCORE A GOAL ON A DIRECT THROW IN, THE BALL MUST TOUCH ANOTHER PLAYER.
5.) PROTECT THE GOALKEEPER AT ALL TIMES, ONE FINGER ON THE BALL, BLOW THE WHISTLE, THE GOALIE HAS CONTROL.
6.) GOALKEEPER MUST REMAIN IN THE RED PAINT ( FOUL LANE ) WHEN THROWING OR PUNTING THE BALL BACK IN PLAY.
7.) THE BALL MUST BOUNCE BEFORE THE HALF COURT LINE AFTER THE GOALKEEPER’S THROW/PUNT.
8.) ALL AWARDED KICKS ARE INDIRECT ( NO DIRECT KICKS ), THE BALL IS IN PLAY (LIVE ) ONLY AFTER TEAM AWARDED INDIRECT KICK HAS TOUCHED THE BALL TWICE ( 2 PLAYERS ).
9.) CEILING + BASKETBALL BACKBOARD ARE OUT OF PLAY. REFEREE SHALL MAKE A JUDGEMENT ON DROP BALL, INDIRECT KICK OR GOALKEEPER’S BALL TO START PLAY OVER.
10.) THE STAGE IS OUT OF BOUNDS, GOALKEEPER BALL IS AWARDED TO RESTART PLAY.
11.) ALL PLAYERS MUST WEAR: SNEAKERS, SHIN GUARDS, SOCKS OVER THE SHIN GUARDS, AND SHORTS (NO LONG PANTS),TEAM SHIRT, GOALKEEPER SHOULD WEAR A DIFFERENT COLOR SHIRT.
!!! NO SLIDING (TACKLING)ALLOWED!!!!
12.) INSTRUCTION/PRACTICE 30 MINUTES BEFORE EACH GAME
13.) GAMES CONSIST OF 2 – 15 MINUTE PERIODS (35 MIN.) 5 MINUTE BREAK AT THE HALF
14.) REFEREE’S ARE IN CHARGE OF THE GAME ( NO ARGUING CALLS ).
15.) BY ORDER OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION – NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE GYM. WATER FOUNTAINS ARE PROVIDED.
16.) A PARENT/GUARDIAN NEEDS TO BE PRESENT IN ORDER FOR CHILD TO PLAY. NO PARENT/GUARDIAN PRESENT THE CHILD DOES NOT PLAY.
