About Matt:
Matt Dooley is a young man who has always had a passion for racing. Growing up just minutes from Atlanta Motor Speedway and less than an hour or so away from the best dirt tracks around the South allowed Matt to become involved in racing at a very young age. He is already into the 9th year of his early late model racing career. In 2005, he began racing Bandoleros on asphalt tracks around the Southeast. In 2007, Matt decided to take on a new challenge and began racing a dirt car called a Slingshot on dirt tracks around the South. After enjoying success racing these cars on both dirt and asphalt, Matt felt he was ready for an even bigger challenge – a dirt late model.
Matt is a first generation racer who is fortunate enough to be born into a family that does everything they can to support his dream of racing. His father, Scott Dooley, owns and operates an automotive machine shop where engines have been built for racers across the Southeast for over 37 years. At the machine shop, Matt is exposed to engine building, as well as all forms of racing and racers. He has been blessed to have many people that have helped him learn along the way. Also, Matt has distant relatives on both sides of his family that have raced for generations around the Southeast at both dirt and asphalt tracks.
As a first generation racer starting from nothing, Matt has had many challenges starting his racing career. His drive and ambition to succeed as a racer and his "never give up attitude" proves he has the heart of a true racer. He has made racing his life. He bought his first used dirt late model in 2008 and began practicing. He began competing in 2009 in a GM 604 Crate Late Model at the age of 13. After having success in Crate, he moved up into the Limited Late Model Class (Steel Head), followed by a NeSmith CT525 Super Series, and a Super Late Model in 2016. Currently, Matt is racing in both the Super Late Model class and the Steel Head Late Model class.
If you happen to be at a dirt track around the Southeast, look for this up and coming young driver named Matt Dooley racing his #18 Dirt Late Model. Also, look for Matt Dooley to be racing some ARCA races in 2018.
