The Swift Current Innovation Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats returned home for the first time since February 1 with a 4-1 win over the Weyburn Gold Wings on Saturday night.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period of play on goals from Jerzey Watteyne and Evangeline Hill. Sadie Keller made it 3-0 for Swift Current midway through the second period, and after Addison Longmore put Weyburn on the board, Keller scored again with 6:36 left in the third period to wrap up the scoring.

Karlee Lehner made 26 saves as the Wildcats outshot Weyburn 40-27.

The Wildcats (16-9-4-0) wrap up the regular season when they host Weyburn one more time this afternoon at 1:15pm from S3 Arenas.

Wildcats fall to Rebels in Regina

The Swift Current Innovation Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats dropped a 5-3 decision to the league-leading Regina Rebels on Wednesday night in the Queen City.

Calla Kampen opened the scoring for Swift Current at 5:11 of the first period before Berlin Lolacher tied it up for Regina with 4:34 left in the opening frame. Jerzey Watteyne and Caitlyn Perlinger scored in the second period to give Swift Current a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes, but the Rebels scored four unanswered goals in the third with Lolacher, Ashley Grice and Stryker Zablocki scoring three nearly three minutes apart early in the period, and Lolacher completing the hat trick with an empty-netter with 15 seconds left.

Addison Eurich had two assists for the Wildcats and Olivia Kirwan and Amiyah Jones added helpers. Paige Fischer made 28 saves as Regina outshot Swift Current 32-19.

The Wildcats (15-9-4-0) wrap up their regular season schedule with a pair of home games against Weyburn this weekend.

Wildcats Down Stars in Double Overtime

Sadie Keller scored in the second overtime period to lift the Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats to a 2-1 win over the Saskatoon Stars on Wednesday.

Karlee Lehner made 48 saves for the Wildcats as they defeated the second-place Stars to finish the season series with four wins in five attempts. Lehner improved her record to 11-4 with a 1.37 goals against average and a league leading .955 save percentage.

The Wildcats had led in the first period on a Jerzey Watteyne goal before Saskatoon tied the game with a Jocelyn Fiala marker.

Cydny Price, Kylee Hansen, and Addison Eurich added assists as the Wildcats improved to 15-8-4-0, third in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League. Watteyne is second in the league with 22 goals, while Keller is tied for seventh with 31 points in 27 games.

The Wildcats will return to league action on Feb. 15 when they visit the first-place Regina Rebels with only three games remaining in the regular season.

The Swift Current Innovation Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats fell 6-3 to the Regina Rebels in their second matchup of the weekend Sunday at Co-operators Centre in the Queen City.

Greta Henderson opened the scoring for Regina 11:10 into the first, but Swift Current jumped out to a 2-1 lead midway through the second on goals from Caitlyn Perlinger and Jerzey Watteyne. Ashley Breitkreuz tied the game with 6:44 left in the middle frame with Evangeline Hill giving the Wildcats back with 3:55 left in the period. In the third period, Henderson scored three consecutive goals and Berlin Lolacher added another to complete the scoring and the victory for the league-leading Rebels.

Karlee Lehner made 24 saves in the loss as Regina outshot Swift Current 30-16.

The Wildcats (15-8-3-0) will return home to face the Saskatoon Stars on Wednesday night.

The Swift Current Innovation Credit Union U18 Wildcats were blanked 1-0 by the league-leading Regina Rebels on Saturday in the Queen City.

Brooklyn Nimegeers scored the only goal of the game at 13:29 of the second period, and goaltender Hannah Tresek stopped all 21 shots she faced for her fifth shutout of the season. Karlee Lehner made 21 saves in the Wildcats’ net.

The Wildcats (15-7-3-0) sit eight points back of the first-place Rebels as the two teams get set to play again today at Co-operators Centre.
