Registration Fee Per Child
$185 if paid by 2/29/20.
$200 if paid 3/1/20 or after.
Raffle Ticket Fee Per Family
$125 – pay this upfront before start of season, but have chance to earn this money back when you sell the tickets.
$100 – work 6 hours of volunteer service at home games or during season, return all equipment/cheer uniform and this
will be refunded at the end of the season.
Other Documents Needed
All football players will need to turn in a Sports Physical.
All NEW football players will need to turn in a COPY of their birth certificate.

The Palos Stars’ mission is to not only teach the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, which will enable players to achieve their highest level of performance, but to also teach children useful lifelong values such as teamwork, good sportsmanship, respect for others, commitment, strong work ethic, leadership and the value of education.
The Palos Stars Association is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1972. The Stars are members of the Southwest Midget Football League. Our program provides our community’s boys and girls, age 6 to 14, an opportunity to play organized junior football and cheerleading. Players will learn the fundamentals of football as well as physical conditioning. Our coaches are committed to teaching our boys and girls the value of teamwork, commitment and dedication, respect and good sportsmanship. Our organization is very proud to have had a number of players that have continued on to play Pro, Semi-Pro and Division I College football.
The Stars’ Home field and practice site is located at the George Cuevas Park at 114th Place and Southwest Highway in Palos Hills. (Located directly across from the Metra Train Station in Palos Heights.)
Palos Stars Boundaries – Our program serves the following communities: Palos Heights, Palos Hills, Palos Park, Orland Park, Chicago Ridge, Oak Lawn, Bridgeview, Alsip, Worth, Hickory Hills, Justice, Summit, Willow Springs and Chicago. Any questions on boundaries please call.
Our football and cheerleading season runs from the beginning of August through the middle of November each year. Varsity and possibly Junior Varsity players have the opportunity to compete in a national tournament over the Thanksgiving holiday, which extends their season a few weeks.
Practice for both football players and cheerleaders begins Monday, August 3, 2020. The practice schedule is from August 3, 2020 through about August 21, 2020 is Monday through Friday from 6 – 8 PM. Starting around August 24, 2020 through the end of the season, the practice schedule is Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6 – 8 PM. (This change in practice days also depends on when school begins.) Varsity will continue to practice through Thanksgiving if they participate in a tournament.
Fees are the same for both football players and cheerleaders. The registration fee is $185.00 per child through 2/28/20. Starting 3/1/20 the registration fee will be $200.00 per child. There is also a $125.00 raffle ticket book which each family is required to sell. Familes can pay in full when registering or just pay a $100.00 non-refundable deposit per child. All balances are due at time of equipment pickup in late July. We also request $100 for the season to fulfill 6 hours (per family) work committment (this will be deposited). If all work committment obligations are fulfilled by the end of the season, the money will be returned at equipment/cheer uniform turn-in.
We offer a free conditioning camp (optional) during the month of July on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6 – 8 PM. The first day of training camp is July 2, 2020. This provides players an opportunity to learn fundamentals, refine skills and begin conditioning for the 2020 football season. Also, you have a chance to meet the coaches and other players.
Games are usually played on Saturday. However, there can be Sunday games especially when we play away games as other teams don’t always have lights on their field.
The Palos Stars provide the following equipment to each football player:
Game jersey (which player will keep at end of season),
1 mouth guard
The Palos Stars will provide Cheerleaders with their uniforms: cheer vest
Cheerleaders will need to purchase their own cheerleading shoes and bow. These will be ordered once practice begins.
TEAM DIVISIONSThe 2020 age by teams are listed below. Teams are still determined by age (by 9/1/20) as follows:
Age: 6 – 7
(Play 8 on 8. Only 12 Players per Team)
Age: 8 – 9
Age: 10 – 11
Age: 12 – 13
Age: 13 – 14 (not in high school)
(will be split into groups depending on number of participants)
Age: 7 to 14

Beginning Monday, July 23rd thru Thursday, July 26th from 6PM - 8PM all Palos Stars' football players MUST come to the Stars Field to be fitted for equipment. We require that a prent or an adult accompany their child in order for equipment to be issued. In order for the process to work most efficiently, players should follow the schedule below:

WIDGETS AGES 7, 8, 9 (up to 90lbs + Stripers) THURSDAY, JULY 26th
MIGHTY MITES AGES 6, 7 (up to 75lbs + Stripers) THURSDAY, JULY 26th
**If you are NOT Registered, yoiu can do so on Equipment Pick-Up**
IMPORTANT: Birth Certificates for new players (please bring on Equipment Pick-Up Day) and Sports Physical is required to play
REMINDER - No equipment can be issued until all fees are paid. Registration fee is a total of $185 if registered priori to 2/4/18 and $200 if registered on or after 2/5/18. Raffle tickets totaling $125 will be issued and paid for at equipment pick-up. You willhave a number of weeks to sell these raffle tickets and then ALL money collected will be yours to keep. The last item will be the Work Commitment in the amount of $100. This will be cashed and a check will be written back to you at the end of the season as long as you have completed your 6 hours of volunteer work and all equipment is returned.
