Team Chicago Academy - Explosion

Team Chicago Academy-Botafogo and Team Chicago Academy-Scorpions both advanced to the State Cup Final with 1-0 victories today at Sportscore 2 in Rockford.

The Scorpions beat Campton United on a first half goal by Derek Dodson off a great assist by Josiah Veloz. Connor Lovely earned the shutout in goal.

In Sunday's Final at 10am at Sportscore 2 the Scorpions will face Libertyville who upset Chicago Magic 1-0 in the other semi-final.

Botafogo beat arch-rival Eclipse Select 1-0 for the 3rd time running in MRL Premier Division and State Cup play. The game-winning goal game in the 62nd minute when Dana Miller played a great through-ball into the path of Zoey Goralski who easily tucked the ball away at the far post.

Kiley Dunning earned the shutout in goal, but it was an extremely strong defensive performance by the entire team.

In Sunday's Final Botafogo will face Chicago Fire Jrs for the State Cup title and a berth in the USYSA Regionals next weekend in Dayton, OH
