14U Shockwave wins Summerville Bash!!!

Posted by Aubrey Heflin at Apr 19, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Shockwave capped an incredible weekend of baseball with a 3-2 win over the Summerville Hawks to take the championship of the Summerville Bash.  On the weekend they outscored their opponents an amazing 50 to 3!!  With only 3 runs allowed, obviously pitching was a key.  Matthew Champman, Billy Seigler, Bryan Dye, Jack Buddin, Nick Ham, and Jacob Presnell all had great performances.  Jack Buddin and Branch Beattie had a big hand in the good pitching performances with great catching behind the plate.  Equally as impressive, if not more so, was the hitting displayed up and down the lineup.  Chase Murray provided one of the more memorable moments of the weekend with a 350 foot home run.  Overall, an outstanding job by the Shockwave, way to start the season! image

Spring Season 14u Roster Announced

Posted by Aubrey Heflin at Mar 8, 2008 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

There are a few changes this year for the 14U Shockwave.  The following players are the 14U Shockwave!   Irving Batten, Branch Beattie, Jack Buddin, Matt Chapman, Bryan Dye, Nick Ham, Chase Murray, Tripp Knowles, Jacob Presnell, Trever Reeves, and Billy Seigler.

13U team followed up their Championship at Florence with another at Mount Pleasant!!  ShockWave finished Pool Play as the #2 seed and had to face the host team Mt Pleasant Diamond Warriors in the semi final.  After a slow start in the semi game the ShockWave hammered the Diamond Warriors in the 5th inning scoring 8 runs on 8 hits in route to a 9-6 win.  The win advanced the ShockWave into the Championship game vs the Carolina Fury.   The Fury scored a couple runs early but John Kirk's pitching and the ShockWave defense shut them down while the offense got going - final score ShockWave 5 - Fury 2.  image

After a big win over the Myrtle Beach Angels followed by a big loss to the Palmetto Stix (NC) on Saturday the ShockWave would have to win 2 games on Sunday just to earn a chance to play for the Championship.   The team got off to a great start on Sunday by cruising thru a 16-0 win over the Florence Storm.  The win earned them a spot in the semi-final game and an opportunity to face the team who had defeated them on Saturday (Palmetto Stix).   The ShockWave defense demonstrated great fundamentals behind 7 innings of excellent pitching by JD Waite for a dramatic 3-2 win.  The victory earned the ShockWave a spot in the Championship game vs. the Florence Insanity who were undefeated on the weekend.  ShockWave trailed 0-3 until the bottom of the 6th when John Kirk got the bats going with a RBI double.  Followed by a RBI by Adam Blocker, JD Waite and go ahead RBI single by Joel Roberts to put the ShockWave on top 4-3.  It was 3 up, 3 down in the top of the 7th to complete a flawless game on defense behind a complete game championship pitching performance by Hayden Heflin.

After going 1-1 on Saturday - Coach Jamie Waite told the team that if they went 3-0 on Sunday to win the Championship they could "shave his head"!   So as you can see in the picture he is sporting a new look!
