Soccer Cleats VS Baseball Cleats
You can’t play soccer in baseball cleats.
(if you don’t mind cutting the tip on the shoe you can make a baseball cleat acceptable by cutting off the toe cleat.)
You can see the missing toe cleat on the soccer cleats.
Referees have been instructed to not allow a player to play with the front toe cleat. Please make sure that your child's shoes are ok to play. We would hate to have a child sit out a game because of incorrect equipment.
Sneakers are a great alternative if you do not want to make the investment. The ONLY requirement to play is Shin guards.
U12 Girls Place Second in State Cup
Pawtucket Youth Soccer would like to congratulate our Select U12 Girls team. This is the first year that PYSA entered a girl’s team in the US Youth Soccer Region 1National Championship. The US Youth Soccer Region I National Championship Series caps a yearlong tournament that features competition for boys and girls teams in the Under 12 through Under 19 age groups. The National Championship Series begins with teams in all 15 state associations vying for their State Championship titles. State Champions in these age groups and champions of the Region I Premier League are eligible to compete in the US Youth Soccer Region I National Championships.
This team coached by Dennis Flynn President of PYSA was a mix of girls who do not play together during their regular soccer season. The girls came together in preliminary games and advanced to the semi final round and defeated South County 4-1 to clinch their spot in the finals against undefeated Ocean State Soccer School. This is the first time any PYSA team has made it to the Final. The girls had a hard first half against Ocean State who plays their normal season in a Massachusetts Premier League, down 5-0 at the half. Second half the team played much stronger, 2-2. PYSA’s Crisanta Martins & Trina Lomba scored goals. Unfortunately, this was not enough to make up for the first half deficit. This was a great showing overall for this girl’s team first year in this tournament and advanced to the finals. Ocean State will represent RI in Portland, ME, June 26 through July 1, 2008.
