Americans Edge Chiefs 3-2 at Morelli

(Melrose, MA) Gianni Zarilli drove in all three runs with a single and double and Chris Mitchell picked up his league leading sixth win when the Melrose Americans edged the Chiefs 3-2 at Morelli Field on Wednesday night.

Mitchell now 6-1, went six innings allowing just five hits while striking out four. Bobby Tramondozzi struck out two in the seventh to grab the save.

Teddy Dziuba (pictured) drove in both of the Chiefs’ runs when they tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning.

Cal Carroll (1-3) went the first 4.1 innings and took the loss. Paul Frisoli came out of the bullpen and held the Americans scoreless over the last 1.2 frames.

The Chiefs will conclude their regular season schedule on Friday when they host the Lexington Blue Sox in a make-up game at Maplewood starting at 8:00 PM.

Caulfield, Dunphy Lead Chiefs to 6-5 Win

(Malden, MA) Andrew Caulfield (pictured) hit his third homer of the season, and had two RBI’s, and the Chiefs took advantage of eight walks to edge the Melrose Americans 6-5 at Maplewood on Monday night.

Tim Dunphy (5-2) went six innings to get his fifth win of the season. Ryan Joyce (1-2) took the loss.

Four Melrose pitchers allowed only two hits in the game. Pat Costigan had three of the Americans’ eight hits. Gabriel Valdez picked up his first save when he worked a scoreless seventh inning.

The Chiefs are back in action on Wednesday at 7:30 PM when they travel to Morelli Field in Melrose to again face the Americans.

(Lexington, MA) Cam Myers drove in five runs, including a three run homer, to lead the Blue Sox to a 12-5 win over the Chiefs in Lexington on Tuesday night.

John Fritz added three RBI’s as the Blue Sox unleashed a 17 hit offense.

Ryan Noone drove home three of the Chiefs five runs.

Gavin Dauer (2-1) picked up the win as Lexington sent six different pitchers to the mound. Chiefs’ starter Paul Frisoli (1-1) took the loss.

The Chiefs are now off until next Monday when they will host the Melrose Americans at Maplewood starting at 8:00 PM.

Chiefs Rally Past Expos 5-4 in Eight Innings

(Malden, MA) Kyle DeRoma’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning scored Ryan Noone (pictured), who led off with a triple, to give the Chiefs a dramatic 5-4 come from behind win over the Middlesex Expos at Maplewood on Monday night.

Teddy Dziuba brought the Chiefs back to life with a two out two RBI double in the seventh inning when the Chiefs scored three times to knot the game at 4-4. Dziuba, who hit his third homer of the year in the third inning, drove home Jackson Duffy and Juan Parra with game tying double.

Anthony Del Prete chalked up his first career win in a Chiefs’ uniform throwing two innings of scoreless one hit relief. The veteran was the Chiefs’ fourth pitcher of the game following starter Christian Rosati, who went the first four frames, Jonathan Chotkowski, and Tommy Leone, who K’d four batters in his two innings.

The Chiefs travel to Lexington tonight (Tuesday) to meet the Blue Sox starting at 8:00 PM.

(Waltham, MA) Teddy Dziuba (pictured) had two hits, including a double, and drove home two runs to lead the Chiefs past the Middlesex Expos 5-4 at Brandeis University on Thursday night.

The Chiefs erased a 3-1 Expos lead when they scored four times in the top of the fifth inning on the way to their third straight win.

Andrew Caulfield stayed hot at the plate and added a couple of hits while Juan Parra and Ryan Noone both had RBI’s for the Chiefs.

Paul Frisoli chalked up the win with four innings of six strikeout, two-hit relief. Frisoli (1-0) came on for Chiefs’ starter Cal Carroll who worked the first three innings and gave up only one hit.

The Chiefs are off for the weekend and return to action on Monday when the meet the Expos in a rematch at Maplewood starting at 8:00 PM.
