Rule & Regulation Change

Posted by Mary Shontz at Apr 16, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
There has been a change made to the B.A.S.A. Rules & Regulations # 2a. The Rule will now read as follows: 2a. If a team does not have enough players to field a team, the coach will solicit substitutes from the opposing team first. If the opposing coach denies the request, then you may openly recruit enough players to field a team. All recruited players must be of the same age group or younger and must be of the same division (i.e. girls division, boys division). NOTE: In case of extenuating circumstances (i.e. very hot weather, or health/safety related concerns, etc.) and if both coaches agree (in advance), then up to 2 additional players may be recruited for substitutions purposes.

A Journey Several years ago my family and I began a long journey. We signed our young son up for a sport. SOCCER. I can't remember now how he chose Soccer. Or for that matter why he chose Soccer. I do know that it is a decision that changed our lives. Those early games at Highland Middle School Field were amazing to us. Eleven Under 6 year olds chasing eleven other Under 6 years olds, and a ball too. The first sport a child plays is important. Their once small world of Family and Kindergarten has grown. New friends, new adults, and the Snack Shed. The fun of just running. Stopping in mid stride to wave at Grandma, or look at a very interesting bug are just part of the game. Airplanes held such fascination as they flew overhead. The ball was temporarily forgotten until a fan shouted, " where's the ball?" How fun it was. All these years later I am privileged to relive those days again every Saturday. I see it at Under 6 in the player’s faces as they run down the field laughing or often swinging hand in hand. At Under 8 we have grown, but we still run to the sideline for a snack after the game. Do you know that you can get dirty, and Mom doesn't even yell about it? The older age groups want to play well especially against their friends and neighbors. How fun it is. I did not realize that sign-up day years ago that our lives would be changed by such an event as playing Soccer. We became part of a Family. An ever growing, always moving and having fun group. I thank all those that worked tirelessly over the years to make Soccer at Blackhawk a reality. Our journey continues today, and my hope is that Soccer enriches your lives the way it has mine. Pam Sedlak Referee Coordinator Concession Stand Schedule If you can not make your scheduled concession stand time, please try to find a replacement by contacting other team members or other people listed on the schedule.
