Tigers Tournament Champions

Posted by Jon Morinishi at May 24, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

We should be very proud of our boys as they won the Championship Game today in the Tigers Tournament. It started with a very stong game on Saturday against the San Jose Ninja's. Our team had five different players shoot 80% from the free throw line and a     43-22 win in the first round. The second round we faced the Mustangs and started out very strong with a 13-0 run, the game ended in a 49-30 win and into the Championship Game against a true travel team from San Diego. The San Diego Speedsters had been scouting our team the whole weekend and they thought they knew all our plays. Our team did not show them everything so we caught them off guard, we played them to a 16-17 halftime score. As we said before the game if we could hold their final score to be in the 30's we should have a good chance to win as we normally score in the 40's. We have been working very hard on defense during practice each week and it showed today in a 44-37 Championship win. Congratulations to the Force players on a very hard fought victory.

As you might know we have had a special guest watch our games on Saturday and today. His name is Pete Rivas and he is a part of the Nike Summer Basketball Program. He was told by many coaches that our team had a very high basketball IQ and they have been looking for a team to use as an example for SEYO, CBO, CYC and JAO.  Pete's organization will be performing a free assessment on our players. We will keep everyone posted on this exciting news.

A few dates coming up soon to remember, the first is this Saturday May 30th from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the SCCCC in Irvine. We will be holding a coaches clinic for the WPC Coaches as we did last year, it is always good to give back and to teach others when possible.

Another date is Friday July 24th as we will have our mini tournament at the Buena Park Junior High Gym with the Honolulu Blue Devils and the San Fernando Dragons. We will probably be there from 1:00-5:00 p.m., more details to follow as we get closer.

Tigers Tournament Fees: The practice and Tournament fees came out to $78.33 per player, please make checks payable to me and I will write the check to VFW Youth Group.

$385 for Tournament Fees

$320 for Practices on 4/26 ($60), 5/3 ($60), 5/8 ($60), 5/14 ($80) and 5/17 ($60)

Our next big tournament will be the Las Vegas Dodger Tournament, we have been notified last week that we are officially accepted so please be sure to get your Hotel reservation.

There will be an update on this web later this week so please check,

Thanks again to all the parents,

Mark

Tigers Tournament

Posted by Jon Morinishi at May 15, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

The Tigers Tournament is approaching quickly and is one week away. Please be sure all the players have watched their DVD before practice tomorrow (Troy and Trevor will get theirs tomorrow night). If we need to practice one more time we have reserved Katella HS for Thursday 5/21 from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Our first game on Saturday 5/23 will be at 11:00 a.m. against the San Jose Ninja's at Hamilton HS - Large Gym, If we win on Saturday we will play at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday if we lose we will play at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday so the boys have an additional incentive to win Saturday.

Please put on your calendar on Saturday 5/30 at the SCCCC in Irvine from 9:00-10:30 a.m. we will be hosting a coaches clinic for the WPC coaches to learn new offensive and defensive sets. We will need the Force team to be there to demonstrate everything. It is a good way to help new coaches in SEYO who are trying to coach their son or daughter. Remember most of what the Force has learned has come from other coaches playbooks.

If you can't make practice tomorrow please let us know immediately as we will need to find additional players to make 10 for practice purposes.

Thanks again,

Mark

Semi Final Practice Schedule & Fees

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Apr 28, 2009 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

We apologize for some changes that we had to make for our upcoming Tiger Tournament practice schedule. We tried to accomodate as many schedules as we could but then we needed to find a facility to rent that fit our needs.

Our practice schedule will start this Sunday 5/3/09 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Buena Park Boys Club. The rest of the schedule is as follows:

Friday 5/8 - 7:00-9:00 p.m. (Buena Park Boys Club)

Friday 5/15 - 7:00-9:00 p.m. (Buena Park Boys Club)

Sunday 5/17 - 7:00-9:00 p.m. (Buena Park Boys Club)

We still may take the VFW practice time on Saturday 5/9 if available.

Also, we need to collect for the San Jose Ninja Tournament as we will need to pay VFW at the meeting on 5/11/09. The fee for each player is $41.67 ($375 divided by 9)

Please let me know if you cannot make this Sunday's practice.

Thanks,

Mark
