Weekend Update

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Jun 16, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
We are very fortunate to have former UCLA point guard Natalie Nakase work out our team this Sunday at practice. I have known Natalie for many years and her drills for footwork, speed and agility are very good. Natalie is currently playing professional basketball with the San Diego Siege in the NWBL. Just an update on our free throw goals, we shot another 520 free throws tonight taking our total to 1,900 for the season. Our goal remains to shoot 20,000 as a team before the Dodgers Tournament. To follow our goal go to the Stats section on this website, go to Select Schedule and then to Free Throw Summary. It should give you our total free throws by player and percentage as a team. Remember our goal for the Jets Tournament is 60% and Dodgers is 70% We have been slowly improving our free throw percentages as a team from the WLA Tournament 42%, FOR Tournament 47% and Tigers Tournament 52% Remember practice is this Sunday 6/18/06 at Mariners from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

VFW Tournament update

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Jun 13, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Hello all,

Quick update from our VFW tournament meeting that Caroline had attended this past Monday night. I have sent out invitations and have already received confirmations back from teams. I hope we can have two or three divisions for all teams to participate in, Gold, Silver and Bronze.

As per Mark's 'heads up speech' at Fountain Valley H.S in our first official team practice back in March, the time is coming for our team to reach out and fulfill advertisements for our VFW youth group and Force team fund.

I'll fill you in on the details at practice on Friday and will bring extra copies of the ad forms for distribution.

Thanks and see you there.

Hello Everyone, Just wanted everyone to know that we have confirmed all practice times at Mariners Christian for the rest of this month (June). As we had discussed earlier in the season we will be moving the practices to the weekdays instead of Sunday once most of the boys get out of school. This should give you parents more time to drive around on the weekends to your other childs activities. Please pay attention to the days for the practices, you can check on the Calendar page to verify. The dates are 6/16, 6/18, 6/21, 6/28 and 6/30 Let Jon or I know if you will not be at any of the practices listed above. Thanks again, Mark

Las Vegas Update

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Jun 10, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Dear Force Parents, Ahhhhhh Yeeeaaaahhhh...Viva Las Vegas!!! We have officially been accepted into the Las Vegas Dodgers Tournament, there will be three divisions and will verify to be sure that we will be in the Gold Division for this tournament. We are going to book a second set of rooms at the "Orleans Hotel" as we are not sure if the pool will be completed at the Nugget Hotel in time for our arrival. We will then decide later this month on which Hotel to keep and will cancel the other Hotel depending on what information we receive. Now that we are accepted there will be a few decisions we need to make, I believe the t-shirt order is due in a few weeks and we also need to decide on our activity for Saturday night soon. We will let everyone know as we get all the details. There will be more information on this tournament coming soon. Let me know if you have any questions, Mark

Tiger Tournament Recap

Posted by Jon Morinishi at May 28, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Dear Force Parents, Congratulations on another successful weekend at the Tigers Tournament. Our boys played very hard in the Championship Game and came out with a 34-20 victory over the Saber Bulldogs team. They also had two nice victories against the OCBC Lightning 31-10 and the FOR Raptors 21-17. Again, we won on our defense which created layups and then free throws. Our free throw percentage is still on track, we shot 42% at WLA, 47% at FOR and now 51% at Tigers. Our goal is to be at 60% for Jets and 70% at Dodgers, we have a lot of work to do this summer. We have a couple of decisions that need to be made soon. Regarding the Las Vegas Dodgers Tournament. Our Hotel (The Golden Nugget) will not have their swimming pool completed by the time we arrive in August. I know we have a great rate now ($175) for two nights plus a $40 food voucher. The option would be to look at the Hotel coordinated by the Dodgers Tournament (The Orleans Hotel) their rate would be $110 plus 11% tax for each night Friday and Saturday and $60 for Sunday. Please let Jon or myself know what your thoughts are on this. We need to make a decision by 6/24/06 for the tournament rates. T-shirt orders for the next two tournaments are near. The Jets are due on 6/5/06 and the cost is $14 per t-shirt (Black t-shirt with Red logo), the Hollywood Dodger t-shirt is $15 each and the order must be turned into them by 7/1/06. Please let Jon know if you are interested in purchasing either shirt before the deadlines. We will be practicing only once this week as to give everyone a little break before preparing for our next tournament. The practice day will probably be Friday, I will let everyone know by tomorrow. Let me know if you have any questions regarding anything above, thanks again, Mark
