Weekend Practices

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Sep 26, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
We have just been confirmed for practice this Saturday 9/30/06 at Valencia HS. We will be in the Large Gym, South Court this time. We will be sharing the gym with the Red Dragons. We are still waiting for Mariners schedule but we might be able to practice this Sunday 10/1/06 if it becomes available. As soon as we find out then we will let you know. Check this website on a regular basis when we are unsure of practice times before the VFW Tournament. Thanks, Mark

Additional Information

Just a quick reminder to everyone. Please use this website as the official place for information regarding the "FORCE" For example the VFW website shows a team called the "tidlewaves" practicng this Saturday at Valencia HS. This is not our team, we are still practicng from 3:00-4:30 in the Valencia HS small gym. If possible please try to be there on-time this Saturday. Between Jon and I we will continue to gather information as far in advance as possible and post it to our calendar. We also will make changes to the schedule as soon as we hear about them. Okay, some items that we need to cover. This Saturday we will be passing around a sign-up sheet for our VFW Tournament. Please be sure that everyone helps out as much as possible. I've been working real hard in teaching our boys about teamwork and I would like our parents to be good role models by helping each other make this tournament a successful one. We are trying very hard to increase our "Force" fund to allow us to play in two travel tournaments next year. This will get us ready for all the travel tournaments the following year when most of the boys will be in 5th grade. We also need to get our SEYO paperwork in order. Please go to the handout section in this website and print out all three forms. Fill them out and bring them to practice this week. We still do not have the amount that each player will need to pay. This amount will be decided next month after both the SEYO board meeting as well as the VFW board meeting. Thanks, Mark

VFW Tournament

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Sep 18, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
This is just a reminder that practice is this Saturday 9/23 at Valencia HS from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Please try to arrive by 2:45 p.m. so that the boys can put on their shoes and stretch before 3:00 p.m. so we can start on-time. We are still waiting for Mariners to confirm some dates for us to practice on either Friday or Sunday before the tournament. We are also trying to set up a scrimmage against the FOR Warriors before the VFW Tournament to help us prepare. The scrimmage is tentative for Saturday October 7th at SCCCC but are still waiting for gym approval. We all need to discuss working at our VFW Tournament soon. Both Jon and I will be commissioning both courts each hour for all day Saturday and Sunday. We are asking everyone else to help with the other duties as we figure commissioning is not what everyone else wants to do. If you do, not a problem, just let us know. We will be putting together some sign-up sheets for different duties and hours for each day though you are more than welcome to join Jon and I for as long as you want, helping or hanging out, either one is fine. More information regarding the tournament, SEYO season and additional practices to be sent out later this week. Mark

Welcome Back

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Sep 7, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
We hope everyone had a good break from basketball but it's time to get ready for the VFW Tournament. We will be starting practice next Saturday 9/16/06 at Valencia HS from 3:00-4:30 Since we will only have 1.5 hours please be sure to be on-time so we can maximize the practice. There is a chance that we could practice one or two Friday's at Mariners but their schedule is not out yet since they just started this week. Be sure to pay Jon or Wendy $30.00 per player for the August gym fees for Mariners. The practices at Valencia HS will be paid by the VFW organization so the fees each month should be much lower until next March when we will be on our own again. We also need to pay Jon or Wendy $35.00 for the VFW Tournament. We will eventually be reimbursed for this tournament but it could take a couple of months before the check is issued. When we do receive the check we will place it in the "Force" fund and will be utilized for our first tournament in the 2007 year. Please let Jon or I know if you cannot be at the first practice next week. See you all soon, Mark

Force update

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Sep 5, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Hi All,

Hope everyone is well rested from our tournament season. Hope all the boys and siblings are acclimated to going back to school again. Jordan and Jennifer start tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone for selling ad's. It's a bummer to solicit but it helps keep our costs down both as an organization and as a team. As of now we should get back $447.50 for the Force Fund. Please check the handout section for a current summary of our fee schedule. Please email me back if you have paid for anything that I haven't documented. Sorry, I'm the architect not the accountant, that's Wendy.

We still need to pay off the August gym fees and possibly the VFW tournament fee of $350.

Since we got to enjoy the fruits of labor from all the other youth groups this past tournament season, now it's our turn. As soon as I can finalize our tournament game schedule, I'll ask for volunteers like last year. We are looking to run our own division at the Chinese Cultural Center in Irvine, where we practiced. Last year, at the American Sports Center, I had a few parents work a couple of hours for the whole weekend, this year we'll need to cover the WHOLE weekend at the gym. Please make personal arrangements accordingly for the weekend of the 21st and 22nd.

This year we will have 16 teams and three divisions. Loosely translated, two courts at 8-10 hours on Saturday and 4-5 hours on Sunday.

Thanks, Jon
