This weeks schedule and March recap

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Apr 2, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

We are trying to wrap up the month of March in terms of expenses. I want to recap our practices and costs for the month of March 2008:

3/1 - Saturday @ SCCCC,  N/C

3/9 - Sunday @ Mariners, $80

3/15 - Saturday @ Marina HS, N/C

3/16 - Sunday @ Mariners, $80

3/21 - Friday @ Mariners, $80

3/22 - Saturday @ Marina HS, N/C

3/26 - Wed. @ American Sports Center, N/C

3/27 - Thurs. @ Buena Park Boys & Girls Club, $60

Total cost for the month for eight practices is $300 or $30 per player. Please make checks out to Mark as I've already paid the gyms for our time.

We also have our Friday night workout at Jason's warehouse tomorrow night (Friday) from 9:00-10:00 p.m., we will be having K.B. Brown working out our boys on defense. Jason is in Okinawa, Japan and will not return until next Thursday. K.B. will be working on defensive stance, cutting off the dribble (especially left), boxing out, help defense and passing drills. We have worked out a special fee of $10 for K.B. so everyone could attend. We feel this is important as we prepare for the WLA Tournament in three weeks.

We also received notice that we will be playing at Paul Revere Middle School for the WLA Tournament. We will let you know as soon as we receive the schedule.

We are waiting for our VFW practice schedule but it should be on Saturday afternoon.

We will let everyone know as soon as we receive it as well.

Let us know if you cannot make practice this weekend.

Thanks,

Mark

SASF Tournament Recap

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Mar 30, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

We wanted to thank Coach Scotty and Tracie for making this past SASF Tournament weekend such a special one. We owe so much to them for all the work they do for us in making our trip so well planned out. Our boys have so much fun with the two of you and are so lucky to have you part of our family.

It was a great weekend for our boys to hang out with each other and to play some basketball. We started off the weekend pretty good with Coach Scotty, Kelli and Reed almost making it to the final four in the 3-ball shootout. They were the only team not from Sacramento but were eliminated by "jacket man" and his half-court shots. On Saturday morning we played the SF Associates who were a 5th grade team from the Bay area who had won their league this past winter as well as taking the Championship in the San Jose Tournament for our age group. We came out playing hard and stayed focused even though we had problems with their 1-2-2 and 1-3-1 defenses. The end result was a 20 point victory that put us in the winners bracket and a game against the number two seed Betsuin 6th grade team.

In the afternoon game we ran accross not one or two big players but three of them with one of them being their point guard and left handed. We had a hard time trying to get the ball inside and our outside shots were not falling but we kept the game closer than the final score appeared as we ended up on the shorter side of a 20 point loss.

The Sunday game was the second meeting between the Force and the BAAS Dragon 6th grade team. The last time we saw them we were down 18-2 within the first four minutes of the game. This time we were down 25-20 at halftime which was a great improvement but we had too many turnovers in the second half and we showed a little nervousness and tentative ballhandling which turned into easy lay-ups for the Dragons. In the end we were on another 20 point loss but we feel as a team we learned some important lessons during these three games.

We will continue with our Friday night at the warehouse starting at 9:00 p.m., We also will be having practice this Saturday but not sure when or where yet but we've sent out e-mails to try and find out as soon as possible as we know everyone has a busy schedule. We only have a few weeks to prepare for the WLA Tournament and we hope we can take the lessons that we have learned from this weekend and improve them before our next tournament.

Let me know if you have a problem with practice this Saturday.

Have a great week and we will update this site in a couple days.

Time Change for Wed. practice

Posted by Jon Morinishi at Mar 24, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Dear Force Parents,

There is a time change for tomorrow Wed. 3/26 practice. We will be practicing from 6:00-7:00 p.m. instead of 5:30-6:30 p.m. We would like all players to be at the American Sports Center by 5:45 p.m. so we can go over the schedule for the evening.

We will not need any uniforms for tomorrow night so our moms do not have to wash them again before packing to Sacramento. We will just use our gold practice jersey's instead.

The evening is still up in the air with a possibility of scrimmages with the Honolulu All-Net Team and Reed's Tustin Knights All-Net Team as well. Both teams are playing in the NJB National Tournament this weekend. We will probably run through our offenses, etc. and then play a couple of controlled scrimmages so we can try out our plays, etc. against other players. We will also provide snacks for our players and the Honolulu team after practice. This team is similar to ours and has traveled in Hawaii playing tournaments in Hilo and Maui, just like ours going to Las Vegas and San Francisco.

It should be a fun evening, please remember about the parking problem so plan accordingly.

We should have seven or eight players as Brad, Austin and maybe Troy cannot make the scrimmages tomorrow night.

Let me know if you have any questions,

Mark
