Dear XC Parents and Runners,

With EBAL Championships just around the corner, the season is nearing its end, but we still have a few fun activities left. Here's the latest news round up.

Photo Day is Wednesday
Don't forget that athletes MUST have their uniforms for the team photo this Wednesday. Forms were given out at practice and can still be picked up tomorrow.

Car Wash This Saturday!
The MVXC car wash is this Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. All runners are expected to participate in the washing and ticket selling. The coaches will explain at practice. We need a few parents to help (no washing, just supervising and handling money). Please sign up if you can help for a few hours. 
 
Mt. SAC Recap
Our travel teams put in a great effort this past Saturday at the Mt. SAC Invitational in Southern California. The boys team took home third place medals in their Div 1 varsity race, while the varsity girls team finished as the 2nd place D1 team in their "sweeps" race. The JV girls finished a solid 10th in their race. There were 115 high school races with thousands of runners from all over the West. Team Pasta Feed on Thursday Nov. 6
Please sign up for our potluck "Carbo Load" the day before our League Championship race. The students will gather at the tables in the southeast corner of Oak Hill park right after practice to share a picnic style meal and get pumped up for EBALs on Friday.
 
EBAL Championships on Friday Nov. 7 
Don't leave early for the 4 day weekend! We have serious work to do at the EBAL Championship race at Shadow Cliffs Regional Park on Nov. 7, from 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm. This race is the culmination of the training season for our team. It will be the last race of the season for the Frosh Soph and JV teams with team titles awarded. Top 7 F/S & JV will earn "All-League" honors. Top 14 Varsity are 1st Team and 2nd Team All League. All races 3.0 miles. We also still need a few parent volunteers to please sign up for a job at the meet.
 
Save the Date for Team Banquet: Tuesday Dec. 2
Details will be forthcoming, but please save the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 2 for our team's annual banquet and season wrap up.

EBAL Center Meet Oct 15th, 2014

Host Monte Vista runs tough on the Oak Hill Course with the Girls varsity team going 7-0 against EBAL foes, while the Boys varsity team earns a 5-2 mark (1pt from 2nd, 4 pts from 1st).   The girls JV/FS team earns a perfect "15" score, have the first 6 finishers in the race (and 7 of the first 8).  The boys JV/FS teams takes 3rd place, one point from 2nd, completing an amazing performance by the Mustangs!  Results loaded to XC stats.  Photos, full story pending.

Races, in order:

FS/JV Boys:  3rd Place! 
Top 7 for MV: Danny Maguire 5th, Carson Sawchuk 12th, Justin Kim 13th, Ryan Olson 21st, Anthony Rocha 22nd, Kenny Padden 27th and Ben Wilson 44th.

FS/JV Girls:  1st Place!  Perfect 15 score (top 5 finishers).
Top 7 for MV:  Morgan Dowling 1st, Alex Wilson 2nd, Hannah Kim 3rd, Megan Bjeldanes 4th, Elana Lim 5th, Adele Hohertz-Serpan 6th, Olivia Bame 8th.

Varsity Boys:  3rd place (Granada 59, DLS 61, MV 62)  5-2 EBAL Record
Top 7 for MV:   Tim Chrisman 5th, Tristan Miller 7th, Nick Vomund 9th, Daniel Maneloveg 14th, Ben Smiley 28th, Peter Davis 29th, Will Jones 43rd.

36th Annual Clovis Invitational, Woodward Park, Fresno

Varsity runners take on teams from throughout the state at this historic meet run on the State Meet 5K course.  Racing at 7:40am, the Boys team continues their breakout season, finish 5th out of 30 teams in their Large School race.  Super fast 5:19 / mile team average pace!   Tim Chrisman (17th) and Tristan Miller (25th) medal for the boys.  

The girls run in the "Championship" race, once again facing off against the top teams in the state.  Brooke Starn has the finest XC race of her career - finishing 4th overall in an amazing 17:44  time!   Meredith Corda also earns a medal with her 39th place finish. The girls are 13th out of the 26 teams who were invited into this race with a 19:12 average time (6:10 / mile pace).
