Vista Running Center Invitational Info

Posted by Mark Gardner at Oct 6, 2015 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

We have decided to reward those that did their fundraising and send you all down to compete at the Vista High/Running Center Invite.  The bus will leave Corona High 6 am and it will take about 75 minutes to drive down to Guajome Park in Oceanside.

First race is at 8:30 am and our last race will be at 11:30 am.  Please bring money for lunch as we will travel down to the beach in Carlsbad from 12:30 pm until 3 pm before we return back to Corona.  (Bring a swimsuit and towel, sun block as well)

Coach Gardner will post the race roster up by the end of Wednesday afternoon.  If you feel there is an error, please email him at mgardner@cnusd.k12.ca.us.  We are concerned about the lack of attendance AND training from a number of our kids and that will be taken into consideration.

Big League Meet #1

Posted by Mark Gardner at Sep 21, 2015 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

We are all set to host the first league meet of the 2015 season at our home course, Butterfield Park.  We are limiting the amount of runners competing due to the extreme heat and humidity this week.  We are only allowing boys that broke 21 minutes at Woodbridge and girls under 25 minutes to compete.  Please understand that this is for the safety of the athletes and a precaution we have consistently taken over the past ten seasons...

Athletes will NO LONGER BE RELEASED EARLY.  Athletes are to provide their own transportation down to Butterfield Park as we do not have a bus.  We expect all 6th period Cross Country athletes to be there to help with support, working the finish line or being a 'course marshal' where they help direct other runners during the race.  We will also need help handing out water to athletes competing during the race.

WEDNESDAY'S TEAM DINNER: 2019 Lockwood Circle,  Corona 92881

ANY PARENTS WILLING TO HELP - PLEASE TRY TO BE THERE BY 4:00 PM ON THURSDAY IF POSSIBLE

THURSDAY'S RACE SCHEDULE
5:00 pm  Varsity / JV Boys
5:30 pm  Varsity  / JV Girls

Woodbridge Cross Country Classic

Posted by Mark Gardner at Sep 14, 2015 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Competing at the 35th edition of the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic provided lots of highlights once again.  Our varsity boys persevered through some challanges, but still finished 24th place out of over 250 schools competing.   Senior Saul Gallardo provided us with THE highlight of the meet with his dominating victory in the Boys Senior race,  His 15:48 time ended up being our 4th fastest on the night.  After two frustrating weeks, we are proud that Saul has bounced back!   Meanwhile, we saw three girls break 20 minutes on the course while being led by senior Sani Shabgahi.  She finished in 8th place finish in the girls varsity race.   This was the most competitive we've seen our girls in quite some time - GREAT JOB!

With Uriel Medina and Enrique Villa shining on a big stage, we were the ONLY California school to have two juniors break 15:22 on this course.... We also have to commend juniot Blake Starbuck.  His 16:15 was run on only one shoe for over 90% of the race.... he's confident that he would have dipped under 16 with both shoes in tact!
