Retired Division Fire Chief Roy Yocum (53) died 8/18 in a motorcycle accident. Quote, "I don't know of anyone who knows Roy and doesn't remember his smile... He was a loving, caring, joyous, happy person." Roy was a Western Hills and UC graduate, Army veteran, avid baseball and softball player and coach. He joined the Fire Department in 1980 and retired in 2001 (led the International Firefighters Championship team in Maryland in 2002). We've seen him on numerous baseball fields including (most recently) managing & playing with the C-Hawks of the the Cincinnati Roy Hobbs Baseball League (where "Yoke" wore his idol, Pete Rose's #14). Although he had no direct relationship with the Meridians, he's one of those great baseball guys and more importantly - just a great guy...

Casey Hall wrapped up a young, over-matched Mason Colts team with a no-hitter in 5 innings with 12 K's and only 3 balls in play! (7/21/05) 2 squibbers were gobbled up by Jack Parkhurst and the other by Casey himself. The only base runners allowed were via 2 walks and 1 HBP. The final score was exactly 10-0 with each Meridians hitter scoring once (Cutter twice).
Jim Rack sighting

Jim Rack rises from the dead (or as we call it - the West side) to make an appearance at our scheduled doubleheader (6/30) that lasted 1.5 innings total. Rack was an original member of the Meridians and led the team in hitting our inaugural year (2002), but started his own business in 2004 and is getting married this November so don't expect to see him much more...
