What time does practice start and end?

Posted by Michael Patrick at Apr 1, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

The first place to check anything to do with practice and/or meet times, dates, locations, etc. is on this website.  On the left hand-side of the page click on Prac & Meet Schedule.  This will take you to the current calendar.  Find the date you are looking for and click on the information listed there.

This year (2005) starting on Monday (April 4th) we will begin practice at 5:30 pm on Log College MS track.  We will have practice Monday, Tuesday, and Thursdays.  Mondays 5:30 - 6:30pm.  Tuesdays and Thursdays will be 5:30 - 6:30, plus 6:30 - 7:00pm for field event (long-jump, shot-put) practice.

First we will add a "pop-up" announcement note that will be the first thing you see when you enter the web-site.  However, if your system has a pop-up blocker function you won't see this.  So, we will also alter the message on the home page to let you know what is going on.  During the week if time permits and bad weather is going to impact practice we will announce the cancellation at school.

How does a runner earn a ribbon?

Posted by Michael Patrick at Apr 1, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )

Ribbons are awarded to those children who finish first to sixth overall place in their age/gender group by event (e.g. 100, 200, etc.)

For example, if there are 39 runners in the Novice Girls 100 meter race, those Nativity Novice Girls who had a time which in rank order was anywhere from the fastest, 1st, to sixth place would earn a ribbon.  So if your son/daughter finishes 1st in his/her heat it doesn't necessarily mean they will earn a ribbon.

The one exception to this rule is for a child running in the 800 and/or the 1600.  By virtue of running in these more difficult events, we will award them an Honorable Mention ribbon.  Of course if they place 1st - 6th, they will receive the 1st - 6th ribbon instead of the Honorable Mention.
