Falcons Down Cobras

Posted by Ray Evans at Apr 22, 2014 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Falcons took care of the Park Vista Cobras very convincingly with a 9-1 victory at home. The Falcons had not beaten the Cobras in their previous 4 meetings, two of which were in the Regional Finals which kept the Falcons from reaching the State Final Four.

David Sarmiento, Oscar "Bui" Rodriguez, Eric Rivera, Mark Vientos and Luis Barranco each had 2 hits in the win. Barranco started the scoring off with a single in the bottom of the 2nd inning to drive in the first 2 runs of the game and put the Falcons ahead for good. The Cobras had trouble throwing strikes in the 5th and when they did they got hit. The Falcons  got 6 runs on 3 hits, 2 BB's and 2 HBP's to make the score 9-1 which was how the game ended.

Chris Rodriguez took the mound for the Falcons. C-Rod pitched 5 innings yielding 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 2 and walking 2. Kharlin Sued came on in relief to pitch the final 2 innings. Sued only gave up 1 hit while striking out 2.

The Falcons (20-1, 8-0) finished their regular season since the Senior night game against Douglas was cancelled due to weather.

They now move on to playoff baseball. The Falcons play in the  District Semi-Final against the McCarthur Mustangs on Tuesday, April 22nd at home at 7pm.
