Howard Stein Assistant Coach - Hitters, OF

          Howard Stein enters his 14th season with Ray Evans and his staff at Flanagan High School. Coach Stein brings an extensive baseball resume as he enters his 23rd season of coaching overall. He has been the outfielders/hitting coach for the past 12 seasons. Along with Coach Figueroa he has helped build one of the States most productive offenses. In 2007 Flanagan set a State record with 54 home runs on the season. He is also well known for being one of the top outfield coaches in the area.    

             Coach Stein has been a part of a few quality programs over his coaching career.  He was an assistant at Plantation High School in 2002 before he joined the Falcons in 2004. He began his high school coaching career in 1995 where he was the JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant at a Northern Florida powerhouse program, Jacksonville-Wolfson High School from 1995 thru 2001. He was a health and physical education teacher at the school. In 1998 the Wolfpack made it to the State tournament at Legends Field in Tampa. Wolfson would end up as the State Runners-up in Class 5A. While at Wolfson, Coach Stein also served as the boys Varsity Soccer Coach and Assistant Football Coach. Coach Stein served as an assistant at his alma mater, Jacksonville University for one season in 1994. 

            Coach Stein graduated from Jacksonville University in 1992 with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology; he played outfield and was a designated hitter for the Dolphins from 1991-1992. He was a 1st Team All Sun-Belt Conference selection as a senior in 1992. In 1990 he attended Palm Beach Community College where he received his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. As a freshman in 1989 he attended Broward Community College and was named 2nd Team All Conference, while finishing the season 2nd in the state in batting for all junior colleges with a .410 batting average.

             Howard is a graduate of Western High School in Davie, Fl. He was a 3 year Varsity letterman, earning 2nd  Team All-Broward honors as a junior. He led the Wildcats in hitting his junior and senior seasons. Coach Stein is currently teaching History at Montessori Academy where his wife, Ruthie, also works and is an administrator. Howard and Ruthie reside in Pembroke Pines.
