News and Announcements

September 19,2005 Olathe Rockets take 2nd place during the Lasers Fall Classic. While the Rockets-Vickers team might have been disappointed from the previous weekend's tournament they were ready for the next. The first game was a tough one against the Moppin's Rockets. After being sent to the losers bracket the weekend before the Ladies of Vickers-Rockets were looking for weaknesses to take advantage of Moppin's - Rockets. To their disappointment Moppin's Rockets showed no sign of weakness and stood on a mountain top of confidence. Losing game one was a wake up call however for Vickers'-Rockets and they came out strong in the next game run ruling the Explosion 10-1. With some momentum under thier belt the Vickers-Rockets scored first in the next game and kept putting runs across the plate with a final victory against the Twisters 7-0. Having placed 2nd in the elimination bracket the Vickers-Rockets had to win the next two games to find themselves in the CHAMPIONSHIP Game. Determined to make it to the "ship" the Rockets faced the Twisters for a 12-3 victory in game 1 and 10-5 victory against the Spitfires in game 2 placing the Vickers-Rockets into the Championship. It was a Rockets vs. Rockets Championship facing Moppin's Rockets for a tough game. After losing to them in previous 2 games Vickers-Rockets came out after them with several hits that found the gaps and putting a single run against their opponent. Vickers Rockets lead the game for the first 3 innings until Moppins Rockets started finding the gaps and once again putting pressure on the defense of Vickers Rockets which allowed 10 runs. With friends on both sides of he field both Rockets teams joined in for a picture to celebrate the victory and finished off with a Rockets Cheer. Olathe Rockets-Vickers team will play next during the USSSA World Series Qualifier hosted by Independent Tournaments at Basehor next weekend. Good luck to all Players, Parents and Coaches
