September 12, 2005 Olathe Rockets take the field the first time this fall in the September Shootout, Point to Nationals hosted by Independent Tournaments. It took a game or two for the Ladies of the Olathe Rockets to get the bugs out of their play but they finally got together after loosing a disappointing game to the Olathe Flash during the 3-2 loss. With several new faces and some familiar ones as well the Olathe Flash battled all the way to the end to take the lead. Game two was played against a team to watch out for this next year, the Predators-Green. The 1st year 14U ladies played with a great deal of heart but just couldn't pull it together to beat the Rockets. The game was much closer than what the score of 11-0 indicated with the Rockets winning. Later in the afternoon double elimination bracket began with the first game against the Predator's Black. This was a very good game against two teams determined to win however the Predators started making errors under the Rockets pressure allowing 6 runs. The Predator's Black will be another great team to compete with come the Spring 2006 season. After winning the first game in Double Elimination the Olathe Rockets-Vickers team faced the undefeated Olathe Rockets-Moppin team for a close game. With both teams battling hard to advance to the next level Moppin's Rockets started to hit the gaps and put pressure on the Vickers Rockets allowing 3 runs and not allowing a run to score when they took the field. After playing their hearts out the Rockets -Vickers team was already looking past their next opponents, the KC Pride and lost miserably 11-1. Rockets - Vickers play next during the Lasers Fall Classic at OGSA Lone Elm next weekend.
