Wolves Holiday Party Celebration!

Posted by Jeff Moench at Dec 14, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Wolves celebrated the holidays in style with a 5 team party -- which included a home run and relay contest including Wolves 10U through 16U.  The night was capped off with the annual scrimmage game, which the "losing" trophy was passed on per the tradition established in '04.   Happy Holidays and GO WOLVES!

The Desert Wolves – 14U – Anderson went 5 and 1 in the USSSA Fall Harvest tournament falling 2-1 in the Championship game. The second place finish and World Series berth was a bittersweet event. In the Semi-final the Wolves lost two players to injuries. Megan went down with a broken leg and Johanna was lost with a broken wrist in the same inning. The Wolves gutted out the final game but came up short. Look for the 9 and 1 Wolves to bounce back and continue to play inspired softball.

DW 12U-M and DW 14U-A won their respective USSSA and TCS tournaments on September 17/18.  Both teams finished 5-0, with DW 14U-A (already!) qualifying for TCS nationals in Park City, UT in 2006!!!

DW 12U-M started Sunday much like they ended Saturday, with a 10 pt. "run rule" in the semi-finals and a hard fought 10-4 victory in the Championship over the Thunderhawks. Way to go Wolves!

You know you're a Softball junkie if...

Posted by Jeff Moench at Aug 6, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
You need a second job (or your parents do) just to pay for gloves, bats, equipment, uniforms, player fees, batting cages, etc... Your second job is umpiring at softball games. Your idea of spending quality time with your spouse is playing on the same co-ed team. You have more than one bat that cost over $200. You go to the softball fields on nights your team isn't even playing. You used to rest and relax on the weekends, now the only rest you get is between games at a tournament. You think "wearing something nice" means an all-tournament shirt with no dirt stains. When someone says they are going out of town this weekend you ask if there is a tournament there. All your white socks have dirt stains from playing softball. Your idea of a weekend getaway is a two-day tournament in (insert town name). You plan your summer vacation each year around the state softball tournament. You own more softball t-shirts than pairs of underwear.

All four Desert Wolves teams competed Mother's day weekend finishing with a combined 11win, 4 loss, 1 tie record-- with Desert Wolves 14U-K capping a perfect weekend winning the USSSA Cinco De Mayo tournament with a 5-0 record. Desert Wolves 14U-A and Desert Wolves 12U-M each only lost one game all weekend, both taking 3rd place in their respective tournaments. In addition, Desert Wolves 12U-V successfully qualified for the TCS nationals in Park City, UT.

Both 14U teams were 3-0 in pool play on Saturday, and narrowly missed participating in an "all Wolves" USSSA final. Desert Wolves-M also was undefeated in pool play with wins over the Hotshots and Scottsdale Fever.

Congratulations to all four DW teams!
