Q. Where can I find practice and meet schedules?
A. Please click here or check under Handouts on the Left of your screen.
Q. What is Track?
A. CYO track is a hybrid sport. It is a travel team without the tryouts. Track is an outdoor sport that focuses on two types of races --- relays and dashes. Our teams compete against other CYO track teams in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, and as a result we will need to travel to the meets.
Q. What ages can join?
A. Track teams are assigned by grade and gender. Teams start at kindergarten and continue up through the 8th grade.
Q. How can I register my child?
A. If you have a registration form - please immediately send it in to the PO Box at the bottom of the form. If you do not have one, please download a form from this site and mail it in - see the home page, or register directly on-line with a credit card. Forms can also be found in the Our Place newspaper and the Sachem Scene at various times throughout the year. Once a registration form is submitted, your child is placed on a roster and you should be contacted by a coach to let you know about practices dates, times and locations.
Q. What is the fundraising buyout and should I do it?
A. At St. Joseph's CYO, we give you a choice of paying us an additional $25 in place of a fundraising commitment or participating in fundraising directly. If you chose to take the fundraising buyout, you will be required to pay an additional $25 (at the time of registration) and you will not receive a box of chocolate/candy to sell. Fundraising is an important part of our program which allows us to keep registration costs low and still raise money for field maintenance, program costs, fees, insurance costs, etc.
Q. I will participate in fundraising, what should I expect?
A. If you chose to take part in fundraising, you will receive a box of 52 pieces of chocolate/candy, and you are required to return $52 to the league within two weeks of receipt of the chocolate. You can choose to sell the candy or eat it, but you are expected to return the $52 to the league. Fundraising is an important part of our program which allows us to keep registration costs low and still raise money for field maintenance, program costs, fees, insurance costs, etc.
Q. Is there a uniform? (or my child has an individual style and would like to wear neon pink shorts)
A. Yes. The uniform consists of a track shirt, navy blue shorts and sneakers. There is a $12 fee for the track shirt. Shorts should not have pockets or cut offs. Soccer shorts are acceptable but are not recommended for older children. Special track shoes or sneakers are not required for CYO track. No jewelry should be worn.
Q. Is there a practice schedule?
A. Practices are held either at Sequoya Middle School on Waverly Avenue in Holtsville or Seneca Middle School on Main Street in Holbrook. Each team has two practices per week for approximately one hour. Inclement weather and school closings sometimes force changes to the schedule. The coach will let you know where and when your team practices.
