Pearland Oilers Varsity defeats Atascocita after late game double, 5-4

Pearland Oilers Varsity and Atascocita exchanged the lead seven times on Thursday, but Pearland Oilers Varsity ended up on top with a 5-4 win in seven innings over Atascocita.

Pearland Oilers Varsity pulled out the win thanks to a strong fifth inning. Pearland Oilers Varsity scored on an RBI double by Cody Williams off #6, bringing home Seth Mikeska.

Williams put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for Pearland Oilers Varsity.

Andreus Faltesek got the win for Pearland Oilers Varsity. He allowed four runs over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out five, walked five and surrendered one hit.

M Johnson was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 4 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed five runs.

Pearland Oilers Varsity closer Nick Landrum put away the final three outs to record the save.

The top of the first saw Atascocita take an early lead, 2-0. Atascocita's rally started when A Soularie singled. Atascocita added more runs when Higginbotham scored on an RBI single by A Soularie.

Atascocita brought home one run in the third inning, and matched that run total in the fifth. In the third, Atascocita scored on a passed ball, scoring J Anderson.

After a quick strike from Atascocita, Pearland Oilers Varsity responded with two runs in the third. Pearland Oilers Varsity scored on a groundout by Mikeska and a groundout by Williams.
