News and Announcements
The City of Houston and the Parks Department are continuing to make meaningful progress on the reconstruction of Weber Field located on the grounds of Chew Park.
It has been a multi-month process for the City that has been repeatedly interrupted by rain delays. Neartown Little League has been a partner with the City ever since the park's remodeling and is very much looking forward to the completion of the project.
Ever since seeing how last year's drought absolutely destroyed the grounds, we have known that once the work is complete, it will be a fantastic field and well worth the wait. As of this week of May 14th, the permanent irrigation system is complete and the final steps of putting sod down on the infield are being arranged.
Everyone here at the League (Managers, Coaches and Board Members alike) are very appreciative of the tremendous patience of the players and their parents and hope you are also looking forward to the new and improved Weber Field, ready for use during our Fall Ball Season!
We are a Chartered member of Little League Baseball, Inc. and as a non-profit organization we also follow Little League's mission statement "to promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball and Softball."
Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Little League program assists youth in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League Baseball and Softball program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes.
We hope you and your children (boys & girls ages 4-12) will decide to become part of the Neartown Family and sign up to play ball with us!
