Registration will be held at the Taylor Ranch Community Center, 4900 Kachina St, NW, on Sat. Jan. 29 and Sat. Feb. 5 from 9:00AM to 3:00PM. Registration fees have not changed from 2004. Everyone must bring a current PNM bill (REQUIRED-NO EXCEPTIONS), driver’s license with matching address to verify your current address. If your child did NOT play at PLL last year, you must bring an original State Certified Birth Certificate to verify age. PLL requires that you provide names and phone numbers of both your doctor and dentist, your health insurance carrier along with the policy number, and an emergency contact. Fees 1st Child - $80; 2nd Child - $60; 3rd Child – $30; 4th Child – NC; For Minor Machine Pitch and T-Ball - $60; Required Capital Equipment Fee -$20/Family. (Fees did not increase). Little League Volunteers National Little League has stated that anyone who works with children in a Little League must complete a volunteer application and have a background check (including criminal) each year. If you plan to help in any capacity, fill out a form at registration. On-Line Registration PLL has a web site where you can get information about our league as well as register on-line. There is an additional fee for on-line registration. Our web address is Late Registration If you do NOT register your child – for any reason by Feb 6, you may register your child LATE by contacting the Player Agent, Elizabeth Slimak (899-3180) or by attending the Tryouts. Late Registration carries an additional fee of $10.00 per family. Players who register late are NOT guaranteed a place on a team and may be placed on a waiting list. Managers/Coaches Managers are considered the “head” coach and MUST fill out a separate application to be considered for this position. Coaches are considered assistants to the manager and will need to fill out a volunteer application. All positions are subject to approval by the PLL board of directors. Umpires Needed In order to have games we must have people who are willing to volunteer to be umpires. Please sign up to umpire at registration. PLL will train you if you are interested. Umpires are strictly volunteers and as such are NOT paid. PLL management strongly supports its umpires and will not tolerate any form of umpire abuse by spectators, coaches or participants. IID Waivers If you have moved out of PLL boundaries and you wish to continue to play at PLL, then you must file for a waiver. Please see the PLL web site for the list of acceptable proof of former residency. The IID waiver must be approved by the District 8 Commissioner before your child can play at PLL. Tryouts Tryouts are scheduled for Sat. Feb 12 or Sat. Feb 19. Although two dates are given, players are only required to attend one of the two tryouts. Times for tryouts will be available at registration and are listed in the PLL information booklet. Tee-Ball (league age 5 & 6) and Minor Machine Pitch (league age 7 & 8) do NOT tryout. All players in Minor Baseball or Softball (league age 9 & 10) must tryout. Minor teams are completely reformed each season. Tryouts are an attempt to balance talent across the teams in each division. Tryouts are not designed to eliminate players. All tryout participants will be placed on a team. Returning players in Major (league age 11 & 12), Junior (league age 13 & 14) and Senior (league age 15 & 16) Baseball and Softball Divisions, will remain on the same team as “property players” and can only be released from their team under special circumstances. All players NEW to any of these divisions must tryout to be eligible to be drafted to a team. Please note: A player who does not tryout – when required – will be a blind pick at the draft. Special Tryouts for players who wish to “Play Up" There will be a special tryout for players who are league age 8 or 10 who wish to tryout to play in the Minor Division (8 year olds) or Major Division (10 year olds). This tryout will be conducted by a special panel of board members to determine if the child has sufficient skills to safely play at the higher level. Any Player who does not attend this tryout will NOT be allowed to play up or tryout for the higher level of play. This tryout will be held Sat. Feb 5 at 4:00 PM. Field Maintenance Days Please help get the PLL complex ready by volunteering for field maintenance days on Feb 26 & March 5 from 9:00am-1:00pm. PLL Auxiliary One way to make PLL a better league for your children is to volunteer for the Auxiliary (Boosters). Our Boosters organize and manage the Concession Stand, solicit contributions from area merchants, and perform much of the work to make Opening and Closing Days (Picnic) and Picture Day a success. An organizational meeting will be held before the start of the season at a time and place to be announced. Outfield Signs Do you have a small business? Please consider purchasing a sign for the outfield. It’s a good way to advertise your business while helping Petroglyph Little League.
